We have Skype (had it for years) but am thinking of installing Zoom as well. I hadn't bothered up to now as our webcam was useless (12-15 years old) but received our new one today. Even a complete Luddite like me didn't have any problem with it. I just plugged it in and it worked. :blue thumb:

There's nothing wrong with Skype but more people seem to be using Zoom. I checked on the internet for comparisons and there's not much difference for domestic use. :noidea:

It's a good choice. I've used it both at home and commercially and found it works really well. Lots of other options such as MS Teams, google duo, facetime...

We use "Skype for Business" for work conferences. That works well (better than its replacement "Teams" IMHO). However, we've been using Zoom for Friends and Family (and some clients who insist on it ...) and given an unstructured rabble not disciplined to wait for the Chairperson asking you to speak :) I think it performs exceptionally well ... setting the Video Images to GRID (on a PC) means you can see everyone ... way better than I would have expected, and we have little trouble with audio-drop out and so on (on Zoom).

But, for business, we remain concerned that Zoom (by their own admission) have put far more effort into Features than Security; the encryption is not industry standard and thus provenance and robustness unknown, the traffic travels through China, and overall that worries us about not only being hacked for confidential content, but whether it would let Viruses in (how ironic would that be ...)

It is that very intensive care unit that is the reason that I am still here bothering you all. They are the best in the business, so he is in good hands.

Try not to worry. It is easier said than done I know. I have a father who is self isolating completely as he has Emphysema. I worry sick for him...I speak to him daily and am beginning to get more worried about thinking up things for him to do and keep busy. His garden is large and he has been planting hanging baskets and pots but there is only so much to do in a garden that is already well maintained and when he can not do too much. He has taken up cooking too.
I think it is important to take care of our Mental Health as well as our Physical Health in these hard times. Hope everyone is safe and well :star::spring:

I have noticed the PM looking less than well for some weeks.

Despite what individuals may think of him. I believe he has worn himself out. He took over as PM at a very critical time in our current history. All the problems with the EU and Brexit. Plus MP's on all sides squabbling like school kids, causing parliament to close down. Now this pandemic that has affected all of us.
IMO he is following in the steps of Sir Winston Churchill. My best wishes for a safe and speedy recovery.

Last nights news of Boris being in intensive care was quite a blow wasn’t it ? (I don’t really care what people think of him) I think he’s done a fantastic job whilst being PM, he signed up to PM but lord above he’s had a lot to deal with, I suspect he’s absolutely exhausted. I hope he makes a speedy recovery & doesn’t come back until he’s better (no chance if that I know! He’s very dedicated).

Things don’t change here much the in-laws are still going to the ruddy Supermarket & out to buy take aways.....I don’t know which part of ‘stay at home’ they don’t understand, I’m really starting to loose patience with them to be honest...it’s such a worry. Last week they popped to see their friend & her 4 kids ...but apparently it was ok because they didn’t go in the house :gaah: I could literally scream! She has had pleurisy, a stroke smokes like a train, he’s had two heart attacks is diabetic & is over weight :dunno:....they are both in their 70’s. They should be self isolating but they won’t listen so what do you do? I’m not talking to them about it anymore I can’t, I don’t want to get cross or argue with them, I’ve just left it that kev will Phone then every couple of days & I will step right back from them

Very hacked off with the people who still go to the park, beach etc etc it’s so irresponsible....I don’t suppose they will listen until someone close to them gets the virus & sadly dies :dunno:. It’s not that hard to stay at home is it? It’s only for a few weeks...it’s not long....yes I’m lucky I have a garden not everyone does but that doesn’t mean anyone should be breaking the rules.

Anyway that was a bit gloomy wasn’t it....it’s not all bad I've spent lots of time in my garden over the past few weeks & I found out last week my local garden centre is doing free delivery...I just need to choose my plants & place my order :) :hapydancsmil:

stay safe & stay well peeps :grphg: xx
