A little bit of respite for me, I've been called back into work as of Monday maybe for a couple of weeks, we've had an order from one of the nightingale hospitals for some of the hand made fibreglass shower trays we make, thankfully not the plastic ones we import from China.

My Dear Friend Woo. How I echo your words. I entered this world soon after WW2 began. The first five years of my life remain very vivid even today. Things were hard but I can honestly say, I don't recall ever gouning to bed with an empty belly.

My memories are that as we Brits always do. We mucked in. People shared. IMO a wartime practice was, rationing. This I would have liked to have seen in our present problem, as it would have been so much fairer all around.

An olf frined of mine passed away a couple of years ago. He'd serverin the RN on the North Atlantic convoy runs to Mmansk. He said many times you couldn't let go of the rais, because your hands were frozen to them.

My dad servered in both world wars. He although seldom speaking of the wars etc, he would say. Back against the wall and get on with it. I adopted a similar saying during my working life. The job could be over and done with, whilst some have been arguing about it. Probably in time we may look back at all of this a nasty memory, but we made it.

If I may. My admiration goes out to Capt. Joe. HM should give him a knighthood. Thanks also to the NHS for thie fine work.

Why is there no Flour in the supermarket (or is it just me?)

A few weeks ago lots of shelves were bare. Now there is nothing missing (Brand-A might be, but Brand-B is there instead), but every time I go (which admittedly is only once a week, maybe I go just before delivery ...) there is no flour at all. Bare shelf, every time.

But there is loads of freshly baked bread ... so clearly there is bulk flour.

If everyone stockpiled flour weeks ago they are probably buying less now than normal - but in my head I'm doing some mental-maths for how much additional home-school cookie-baking is going on :)

I think the supermarkets are playing games and only selling the best things ie more profit for them no one is selling 6 pinters of milk but farmers are chuck it away, flour was being pushed through to make fresh bread because of panic buying but that has stopped, here, also back 2 weeks ago a well none supermarket even wasted some bread :yikes: so a little birdy on the shop floor tole me ;)

Can someone explain, this morning they showed four people sitting on two benches, in I believe London, to show that people were not keeping up social distancing.
Next item, Khan said all people on public transport should wear masks.

How do you social distance on public transport?
Keeping public transport running surely makes a joke of the whole issue.

I heard it was down to a lack of packaging for the small bags. No idea if that's correct or not.

Where has all the flour gone?
                    Long time passing
Where has all the flour gone?

I see that some drivers are taking advantage of the quiet roads - and speeding. Around here - up to 125 mph on a 70 mph stretch.

When these people are the only one's on the road - who do they think the police are going to be looking at? Natural selection in action again.

I'm pleased to see that the North Wales Police keep twittering that they are still out patrolling -a warning to tea leaves thinking of taking advantage.

They keep the public transport running because a lot of NHS and other listed essential workers have no alternative but to travel on Public Transport.:dunno: The Mayor of London actually cut the Underground number of trains, until the Government overrode the decision, not even thinking of those essential workers who couldn't get to work without it.:wallbanging:

It was recognised long ago that social distancing on London public transport would not truly possible but, with less people at the moment using Public Transport, it is easier to try to do so.

It's funny how they don't show you only two people sitting on a bench but will show a picture (posed?) of four people sitting on the bench and people seem to take it as the whole Nation is all is all sitting on benches. Only the Idiots sit on a bench and deliberately ignore the social distancing rules and only Idiots allow themselves to be photographed doing it.:dunno::heehee:

I listened to a question on the radio about benches in parks. Someone asked why, when he goes for his needed health walk as he has recently had a knee replacement, he is not allowed to rest on a bench before finishing the walk. He said that in his park the benches are all taped offf. The answer from a doctor was that, in theory, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong but, in fact, the person that may have sat on the bench before him may have CV19 and it is thought that the virus lives up to four days on wood! :hate-shocked:
