This pandemic has hit all of us painfully below the belt.

As an oldie, whatever that is. My youngest daughter (55) is the only one who tells me I am vulnarable. OK. I am 80yrs old. I have cancer. I have also a heart problem, known as Aortic stenosis. I live on my own. As Amanda has a medical degree. I tend to listen to her, despite she, herself is disabled and has baisically no imunity.

OK. I like millions of others , got in the post a letter from Boris. However what happened to essential services be notified of vulnerable persons. Wow come. Why are so many oldies feeling so lonely. Left out. In need of food etc.

OK. I am a scientist and have my microscopes, my garden etc. The world around me has gone so quiet. So quiet. I often remind mytself of the Soldiers Hymn. Dear Lord and Father of all mankind.............and still that voice of calm. Honestly. I have or nearly have lost all faith in humankind. Where are all those faith belivers of mine? Hey a simple text message, or a phone call. Yes across the spectrum many are doing their best. Silence is good at times. 24/7 silence. Er wot. grunt groan. Cobblers. I'm off to bed. To sleep. Per'chance to dream. Nite nite. xx

I had been wondering where you’d been @Mike Allen as I hadn’t seen your posts lately-although I’ve not been on the forum so much the last couple of weeks. Hope you are doing ok-have you got any help sorted out for getting supplies in etc? You’re right to listen to your daughter! You are vulnerable so hold tight and stay safe.

Hi @Mike Allen if you haven't received a letter of vulnerability from the government that says you are on the priority list then you should phone your surgery. They should be able to provide it. This should help get you onto the supermarket priority delivery list.

I'm sure Victoria just made a typo ... no need for the spelling police if you understood what she meant.

I apologise one and all. I originally typed Tom then read back and saw @Mike Allen had put Ted so corrected my post. I am not putting the blame on Mike ... I should have known better! :frown: I was thinking of Rocket Man as I typed then thought I better check back ... silly me! :heehee:

Thank you Kirsten, but one does have to watch out for those Spelling and Grammar Police! :nonofinger:

                Good morning everyone. :)

Who would have thought - extract of an e-mail from my car insurers:

With fewer cars on the roads during the UK lockdown, we’re seeing a reduction in the number of claims coming in. We want to give the money we would’ve used to pay these claims back to our loyal customers in this difficult time.

If your car or van is one of the 4.4 million vehicles insured with us on 20 April 2020, you’ll get an automatic £25 refund per vehicle.

They are emailing you and don't know the answer to that?

I have no idea what the top-and-bottom of all this rumpus is.

I saw on Brekki Telly this morning all sorts of home workers making (cotton type) gowns for health-workers. Full of admiration for them, but why do we need so many all of a sudden? I have a chum who has a company that does laundry for NHS and Hotels. Obviously no work from hotels at present so he can handle as much as the NHS want him to do ... the whole point is that the gowns are washable. I'm pretty sure he doesn't stone-wash them to death :) and some must wear out, but why do we need mountain loads of new ones? I'm struggling with the concept that there really are so many more new staff than can be clothed

We sent half our hard acquired provisions to Russian during WWII, even thought I don't think we were best of chums back then! but I dunno what the real story is behind The Sun ...

... I am struggling to believe we've heard the truth behind all this, rather than "Both sides posturing" (Why? for goodness sake ... time to collaborate and get on with fixing the problem ... whatever that might be from "Need's-must : Stop throwing them away and make them last longer" to "let's get some more manufactured / imported")
