Is this what Boris is going to do:

Following the latest review, First Minister Mark Drakeford announced today that lockdown measures will remain for at least another three weeks but with three ‘modest adjustments’.

One of the adjustments will be to enable local authorities in Wales to begin the process of planning how to safely reopen libraries and municipal recycling centres.

Another adjustment will be to allow people to exercise more than once a day, “but people should stay local.”

“This means any exercise should start and end at home and not involve going a significant distance from home.” Mark Drakeford said.

The third change will see Garden centres allowed to open provided they comply with the strict social distancing rules.

It’s intended the changes will come into force on Monday, so Wales moves in step with the rest of the UK.

I’ve been reading through, (been avoiding this thread, as it’s all too depressing as we enter our 9th? week of lockdown - loosing count,) and a few things have sprung to mind.

...but those other countries started their lockdowns a lot earlier than the UK, and now have hospital admissions, ICU beds and death stats, all lower.

There are lots of different factors going on here....
From the very beginning, Belgium has counted ALL Covid symptom deaths in the stats, whether in hospital, care homes, in the community, or Heaven help us, on the street. If one care-home death was tested and proved to be Covid, then other deaths occurred in the same care home, with the same symptoms, they are also counted. Even now, not all Covid symptom deaths in the UK are being included in the stats. When you look at “excess deaths compared to a normal year” stats, most countries are higher than normal by a number of thousand. In the same period, Belgium was -30, lower than normal. So when the stats are all in, the figures here will be adjusted down, not up...

      exactly @Sandy Ground !

There are so many different factors. For example, we also take into account population density, age distribution, % of elderly in care homes, etc.

We look as if we are coming out of “confinement” slowly, but it is being done step by step, and I don’t think there will be a normal church service for months....:cry3:

@Sian in Belgium I completely agree with you. Portugal has always counted Care Homes also and our death rate is predominantly the elderly. We were lucky in that Italy was 3 weeks ahead of us and Spain 1-1/2 weeks so we had time to prepare. Also, I am sure as in other countries, our high numbers are up North in the populated/indusstrial areas. Here in the South where Alentejo and Algarve probably occupy 40% of the country we have low cases and only 14 deaths ... we have lots of space being agricultural.

I personally think people have abided by laws here as the country was under Dictatorship until 1974! :yikes: Now it is a calm, peaceful country. :love30:

We are also hearing that it hits the BAME community harder, an investigation is going on to find out why.
Apparently that is 35% of the London population alone.

I think history will tell you that certain ethnic groups are more susceptible to certain ailments ... like Sickle Cell Anemia.

Maybe, but nothing else will be normal either. I "loved" the German GP who went to Church where social distancing was being disregarded and when asked why she said while being filmed "You can't catch Covid 19 in a Church"............God save us.!!!:wallbanging::wallbanging::dunno:

Lockdown was always about not overwhelming healthcare facilities so when things start loosening up, you know there is now room for you at the hospital..

I got sent a video of a woman in America that was saying it's too hot where she is (southern states somewhere) to catch coronavirus. Also, they drink a branded light beer, not corona beer, and from 'aluminum' cans, not bottles, which means you categorically cannot catch the virus from them... it went on but you get the gist. Pretty sure there's some in the UK too that think similarly.
What a wonderful world we live in!

I am fully aware of that having lived in the Deep South for 14 years in the 60s/70s ... just referring to the comment of an investigation into why ... what a waste of money at this critical time!

Hi @Telmadee I am sure you will be ok, they don't need so many donors now as they are only doing emergency operations hence why the sessions will be far less crowded. Just be careful if you do leave straight after donating as that's the time some people get light headed. Best just to rest, sit down for 5 minutes if you can find an isolated place in the venue, but in full sight of the staff, just in case. I always admire people like you who find a way to deal with anxious feelings leading up to donating. It won't be so bad now as there is little time to sit and wait and think about it.
