I don't like the way the numbers are reported. At least over here.

In my "town" population 250, 000.

      Confirmed cases 173, probable 21 Total 194

However there are 3 dead and 149 recovered. So, it says to me, deduct the probable, deduct the dead, deduct the recovered and in an area tnat takes 20 minutes at 60 kilometere an hour to cross, it says to me that there are only 21 confirmed, active cases at this moment so why are they still hollering "194 cases".

I know we have to keep clean and keep our bodily fluids from one another (and I like that..) but this is getting obnoxious.

      Talk about spin!

I have to say. I feel sorry for the PM. Sadly for him and all those who have been struck down with the virus. It is no doubt an experience they don't wish, second time around.

Just my opinion but perhaps misguided but I would have thought these educated politicians, cough cough! would at least have joined forces and closed ranks.

Yes yes of course, as may well have been expected. Good old Britain has once again been caught with its trousers down. Even I admit, whilst attemting to proffer excuses, we now realise we or more precise, the powers to be were slow off the starting blocks.

We have some of the finest brains in the world, as with practically all things. From planning new roads to whatever. Us Brits must hold the record for long drawn out prattle.

Totally agree with the frontline scenario. Why has it take so, so long to identify, flashpoint areas. OK we all have to go sometime. However. Why has it take so, so long to see. '' Look there's a care home , a retirement home. With respect, a mass groupe of oldies and wrinkles. I am one myself. Why has it taken so long to focus in and see that these so valued and loved folk are dead center on the targets cross hairs.

All this PPE stuff. Hells Bells we are living on a knife edge even now. We should have kept up with the .....sorry....rat race and had a suitable supply of protective clothing.

Honest friends. I came into this world at the start of WW2. NO. I didn't start it. As science explains. The learning power of a child, to the age of Five years is probably the greatest.

This year and the VE celebrations. I am so amazed. How did we manage that.

        Stay Safe my dear friends.

Yeah same happened here, the 'Street party' began OK with everyone in their own front gardens. We decided not to join in as couldn't see how it would work anyway - all our gardens have 6ft high beech hedges so you can't see into each others. Eventually they all ended up together in a close circle in the road. Alcohol had a part to play. Quite unbelievable behaviour from people we know well. Clouded judgement and like the first day of spring being let outside for the first time.

@Logan ... Good morning. Does your Hubby work in the medical field as you seem to have a lot of knowledge? Just curious.

Because they were slow at doing anything is because they were going for herd immunity but realized it would have been worse that it is now.

In my opinion they didn't do anything about the care homes because they're old and not important, but they are.

Thanks @Mike Allen you stay safe as well.

It's the British way, we always seem unprepared and dare the enemy to step over a line. Then when they do we look at each and say perhaps we should have expected that. Since being caught out I got to say the Bulldog spirit has kicked in and many have stepped up to the mark. Building those Nightingale Hospitals so quickly was remarkable. Also we never saw anything in the UK like the overwhelming of the hospitals in Italy, so you have to be very suspicious of other countries propaganda.

Good morning @Victoria, no hubby used to be in IT at halfords warehouses not far from where we live. Now that he's retired he's on the computer most of the time and goes on forums that talk about things like this and anything political.

Here in Wales we have another 3 weeks lock down - which I think is sensible. So we're staying at home.

Germany are showing us what happens when lock down is eased too early - I hope Boris has been taking notice.

Cheeky sods. If I have a problem with someone, I would much rather knock their door and speak to them face to face, or ring them - - to do this anonymously is just plain rude. They clearly have nothing better to do with their time if they are twitching their curtains to monitor your movements

Talking of unprepared, I dont think many countries were really prepared, but some might have locked down earlier.
Someone was suggesting that we could divert the defence budget to the NHS.
I thought that was a very apt idea bearing in mind VE day, and talking about being unprepared;)

I cant see how you get from where we are now, to the country functioning something like normal, without a second spike?

And as we keep hearing the vaccine wont be ready for over a year , the herd immunity thing will have probably kicked in by then.

Bearing in mind, the lockdown is really only about stopping the NHS from being swamped.

They even said the other day that the people who volunteered to test the vaccine need to be exposed to the virus, but infection rates are now too low for that to happen, which will slow down the testing of the vaccine.

I think we are up the creek without a paddle, doomed if we do and doomed if we dont.

I'm pretty sure many of us have had the virus and it being so mild a case, we didn't realize it. A couple of months ago I had a sore throat and felt like I had a cracker crumb caught in my throat. Maybe virus, maybe not!

The owner of the pub I visit had pneumonia like symptons and had to be hospitalized between Christmas and New Years. Probably the virus but nobody was aware of it's veracity because of the secrecy.

We probably already have the herd thing started. We just don't know it.

Which is why so much emphasis is being put on an antibody test.

How are the countries that have come out of lockdown doing - any sign of a spike there?

If everybody has been home, or everybody with the virus has been home and gotten over it, how many people will still have it at this point?

In Germany they have started to come out of lockdown and cases are accelerating again, doesn't seem to be an easy way out of this.
