I can't see her shouting about Independence for a very good while, Sheal.

Hmm, probably not @ARMANDII, the hot air she's normally full of has cooled for the time being. She still has problems making up her mind though. A week before her announcement that we'd stay in lockdown she said she was going to lift it. Perhaps she just felt the need to go against Boris.

Even if I played any part in politics. I certainly wouldn't want to have such choice to make, hanging over my head.

IMHO and my choice. I consider it far to early to lift the lockdown. I would need to see the death rate being below the 100 mark and having remained as such for say four weeks. It has only just come to light that the virus (fungus) increases differently outside compared to inside. Then there is individual susceptibility. How long might it take to rejuvinate to a future massiv attack.

To be honest whatever we say is basically guesswork.

This morning I was awakened by van doors slamming and hooters being tested. Oh what has happened to the peace and quiet. Then that old sound of police sirens, and there goes an ambulance. Ole No. Now Trumpton is dashing down the road with his bull horn blasting away.

Then a quick look at the news. Traffic was heavy this morning etc etc. That's life.

For me and to the satisfaction of my family. Michael is going nowhere for at least the next four weeks.

A signature quote I was given by my top cop years ago. Stay Safe. Friends. Please Stay Safe and remain content.

Agree totally. Although I am a long term Irish resident I still belong in England and I lament what is happening there. We are getting a knock on effect here but our authorities are firmer and more compassionate than there and took control very early on. If number start to climb here with the small relaxations, they will clamp down and our Gardaí got special powers.

I've been talking to some people in Israel.

The trials that we are having on the I.O.W. with tracking by app. are apparently not going too well because the software, developed by our own people has some glitches.

In Israel they have been using their own app. and have been doing it for over two months. This is run by their internal security people :rolleyespink: and some of the population are a bit concerned about that. Whatever that may imply, due to that (and other methods) they have reduced their deaths from Covid to almost zero and have had a grand total of less than 300.

They have a fairly strict distancing policy but few restrictions. They are not allowed out in public without a mask but have no restriction on going out and about. Almost all shops are open but they must give a temperature test before you are allowed in. Working from home if possible otherwise going to work is the norm with some distancing regulations.

One thing not allowed is going to the beach - but windsurfing is allowed :hate-shocked:! None of the people I spoke to understand how that rule works .

From the way I understand the new rules, you can now travel to see loved ones (grandparents, grand children, friends etc.) but under strict rules. Only one person can see one other (must be outside) - and they must strictly keep the distancing.

It seems a bit of a farce but, for instance, at least you could travel to see a grandchild and stand, or sit, in their front garden and chat to them. If there is more than one grandchild then you can go to see them another time. I don't know if there is a specified period of time before you can go back.

On the same premise, a friend can come round to me and wander round the garden with me as long as we keep our distance.

I don't know how it would work if my friend and his wife came round and he and I wandered round the back garden whilst our wives wandered round the front garden.

Maybe the detail is in the 50 page document - but I doubt it!

Is there a difference between my wife and I sitting in our garden chatting to each other whilst the neighbours are doing the same, and all of us sitting in the same seats chatting to our neighbours? Obviously we wouldn't be pulled up for doing so but the government may get criticised by the 'media' for similar anomalies that they can't possibly legislate for.

It all sounds very, very complicated indeed over there. As a cocooned old wan over here.. I read that the police there are " fighting a losing battle " in the London parks.

What I've read is that it cannot be in their house or garden, but must be in a public (open?) space.

Blue Diamond garden centres open Wednesday, Dobbies MK also opens Wednesday (don't know about their other stores).

Good morning this should clear things up sent to me this morning by my Son (Tongue in cheek)who works in the critical unit in Southampton;)

4 year olds can go to school, but university students who have paid for the tuition they haven’t had and the accommodation they aren’t living in, can’t go to university.
A teacher can go to school with many 4 year olds that they are not related to, but can’t see one 4 year old that they are related to.
You can sit in a park, but not tomorrow or Tuesday but by Wednesday that’ll be fine.
You can meet one person from another household for a chat or to sunbathe, but not two people so if you know two people from another household you have to pick your favourite. Hopefully, you’re also their favourite person from your household or this could be awkward. But possibly you’re not. But as I can’t go closer than 2m to the one you choose anyway you wouldn’t think having the other one sat next to them would matter - unless two people would restrict your eyeline too much and prevent you from being alert.
You can work all day with your colleagues, but you can’t sit in their garden for a chat after work.
You can now do unlimited exercise when quite frankly just doing an hour a day feels like you are some kind of fitness guru. I can think of lots of things that I would like to be unlimited but exercise definitely isn’t one of them.
You can drive to other destinations, although which destinations is unclear.
The buses are still running past your house, but you shouldn’t get on one. We should just let empty buses drive around so bus drivers aren’t doing nothing.
It will soon be time to quarantine people coming into the country by air... but not yet. It’s too soon. And not ever if you’re coming from France because... well, I don’t know why, actually. Because the French version of coronavirus wouldn’t come to the UK maybe.
Our youngest children go back to school first because... they are notoriously good at not touching things they shouldn’t, maintain personal space at all times and never randomly lick you.
We are somewhere in between 3.5 and 4.5 on a five point scale where 5 is all of the virus and 1 is none of the virus but 2,3 and 4 can be anything you’d like it to be really. Some of the virus? A bit of the virus? Just enough virus to see off those over 70s who were told to self isolate but now we’ve realised that they’ve done that a bit too well despite us offloading coronavirus patients into care homes and now we are claiming that was never said in the first place, even though it’s in writing in the stay at home guidance.
The slogan isn’t stay at home any more, so we don’t have to stay at home. Except we do. Unless we can’t. In which case we should go out. But there will be fines if we break the rules. So don’t do that.
                      Don’t forget...
Stay alert... which Robert Jenrick has explained actually means Stay home as much as possible. Obviously.
Control the virus. Well, I can’t even control my dogs and I can actually see them. Plus I know a bit about dogs and very little about controlling viruses.
Save lives. Always preferable to not saving lives, I’d say, so I’ll try my best with that one, although hopefully I don’t need telling to do that. I know I’m bragging now but not NOT saving lives is something I do every day.
So there you are. If you’re the wanting unlimited exercise then enjoy. But not until Wednesday. Obviously.

To me that makes more sense, I think our government are trying to go into too much detail and in not wanting to leave loop holes are tying themselves up in knots.
You can only really do so much, after that it is up to the individual to be sensible.

Partly the reason for them tying themselves up in knots is because we seem to have so many people who need it all spelling out to them and every angle covered, when just keeping your distance from others is really the way to go, whenever possible.
But there will be times when you cant.
So wash you hands and hold your breath.

Make the instructions simple and people will interpret them to suit whatever they want to do, too complicated and they wont understand them and will do whatever they want to do.

Easy solution - lower retirement age to 60, medically retire everybody under 60 with health conditions, give them all the supermarket delivery slots and let them lead a life of leisure away from everybody else whilst they're at work. Lots of jobs freed up for the unemployed and school leavers in what would otherwise now be a vastly reduced jobs market.
