That takes me back to the good old days. :old: Outside loo and the bath was made of tin and hung on a hook in the back yard.

Round here they used to cut off all the newel posts, handrails and spindles to put on the fire.

You must have had stairs! :rolleyespink: We just lived in a cave.

Nobody had invented fire when I was young. We huddled round our pet Smilodon if it was cold.

Do you mean those large groups of cyclists, riding at a furious pace within inches of dog walkers, elderly, disabled, small children, etc., and expect pedestrians to jump out of their way? We've always walked/cycled all over the place around our village, but the local landowners are now actively try to barricade these aggressive cyclists out.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I sometimes think the problem these days is we are actually too clean, squeeky clean.
We kill every bit of bacteria on our bodies, the good gets killed with the bad, when the good might actually balance out the bad if it was allowed to.
Obviously I'm no scientist but there has to be something in this otherwise all life on the planet, apart from disease, would have been wiped out years ago.

A little bit of dirt never hurt anyone:smile:

But having said that, I do agree we know more now than we did a hundred years ago about how these viruses spread, so we can take actions that may not have been taken in the Spanish Flu epidemic.

OK, so this is a new virus, but I assume a mutation of what was probably around for a long time before it mutated????

                            Hello all

I hope you are all well.

I do not usually post in these Threads but I felt the need to add something.

When I was a Pre Teen, late 60's early 70's, we played outside all day, usually in the woods and came home absolutely covered in dirt and I hate to think what else.

I even had the habit of digging large holes in the garden that when I stood in them I could hardly see out, granted, I was only 6 or 7 years old, but still...

I was told I was maybe trying to escape, long story but suffice to say I had a difficult time when I was young, still do.

Anyway, my point being is that these days young kids do not play as we used to and there is the culture of everything must be wiped down with Disinfectant etc. to kill the germs

The kids of today have no opportunity to build up immunity to the simplest of bugs, let alone anything more serious.

There is a reason that young children of today look sickly in comparison to when I was the same age, that being that they are not allowed or do not want to explore and get filthy etc.

                            Rant over for now :)

                            Thanks

                            Kevin

And the evidence is that vigorous exercise that creates air turbulence, such as workouts in gyms, creates ideal conditions to spread the virus to those close by. So what about the people the cyclists pedal past furiously almost touching them?
