Interesting site the Global Peace Index GPI, @Victoria. The UK is 42nd out of 163.

Appears as if campsites might be reopening in early July, but the toilets and showers will remain closed. I have a toilet tent and porta potti, but previously avoided campsites when the kids were off school, so hoping they go back in September.

A mate of mine went to Iceland on holiday, hid holiday pics made it look very peaceful, grey, freezing cold, windy, and very grey.

I think I know why its no 1;)

But you have got to wonder how they work this kind of thing out:biggrin:

I went out today the first time since March.......well I put my trainers on and walked across the road to post a letter. God that did make me feel good.....Well until the Roofer/Builder phoned me with a quote for replacing a window in the roof.

T'other half always fancied Iceland ... but not for me, no siree. I like the sun, but not too hot!
I believe @miraflores other half is from there.
And I can assure you, there is very little crime here. :yahoo:

Interesting @Victoria , I looked at the listing and see that Canada is line 6. I guess because of the fact that our protests have been peaceful, we'll hopefully hold our position. Why, we were even polite to Greta!

My region is being held back from loosening '19 restrictions because Toronto is still being naughty and getting positive test results at about 2x the rate of the rest of us.

I was out today to grab some supplies and came home with a scratchy throat. Luckily it only turned out to be a symptom of thirst. Quickly medicated successfully with a spritzer :)

Statistics always interest me. No- I'm not talking about those! :heehee:

These 'peace' stats are interesting but not sure what has happened to the other 32 countries not listed.

Why do they have the number of refugees and displaced persons high on the list of negative indicators. A lot of the countries didn't ask for them to come there but they went there because they thought they could get a better life. Are there many refugees wanting to go to Iceland?

The amount of contributions to UN peacekeeping also seems a funny indicator as do the sale of arms and the number of nuclear and heavy weapons held. I'm not sure that these markers would make any difference to how peaceful and safe it is in and around Shineyland.

These, and other, indicators remind me of the five satirical comedy films/books (1959-81) about 'The Mouse That Roared' and the Duchy of Grand Fenwick. :heehee:

A great film starring Peter Sellers at his best. I think it became a stage play as well.
Must see if it is on Netflix :blue thumb:

I thought they were being snapped up online by campers, but my daughter informed me they are also being used in gardens for visitors to avoid them going indoors, plus I understand some contractors are now using them when working at domestic premises.

Walking past the village recreation ground this afternoon you'd think social distancing no longer applied, playing basketball a fraction of a metre apart and sitting on benches rubbing shoulders.

Don't they realise what's going to happen to their employment chances when they leave school? (If they ever leave school)

I think a fair few people have given up on this social distancing lark.
We are just waiting for the government to catch up.:roflol:
