We have had some very naughty people here in Portugal / Algarve. An illegal birthday party was held at a sports center in Western Algarve where there were literally a handful of positive cases on 6 June ... illegal because there were 100+ participants of various nationalities when 20 are permitted ...and so far 37 positive cases have emerged including two children not at the party but relatives. So now a massive investigation is under way to find friends/relatives/colleagues of the participants.

Because of it 12 care homes in the area have been closed to visitors.

Ignorant people in these critical times!

    Be safe ... not sorry.

I wonder if there's a link here?

We have had separate outbreaks of Coronavirus in two meat (chicken) processing plants in Wales - both plants owned by the same company - one on Anglesey and the other some miles away in Wrexham. Processing meat probably from the same supplier. These plants supply the major supermarkets.

Same happened in a German meat processing plant.

The new outbreak in China - centred on a food market.

Chicken is proving to be something of a nightmare for Germany at the moment - they are struggling with Campylobacter as well. I read an article the other day that said almost every chicken in Germany is carrying the bacteria.

Kinda puts the old chlorinated chicken argument into perspective, doesn't it?

Despite the fact we're still pretty much in lockdown here, the difference in traffic on the roads a week apart was astounding today. It's almost back to normal in Inverness with queues at traffic lights, roundabouts etc. Could it be the fact that Nicola Sturgeon mentioned a week or so ago that she was thinking of releasing the Highlands from lockdown? Give people an inch and many take a mile - or more! That said, Inverness city centre is still closed. The car park at Tesco is still only a quarter full whereas it's normally almost full. So where are all these people going and what are they doing?

This virus, this pandemic. STOP! the world. I want to get off. I wonder how many folk feel this way. This invisible virus has struck the world. Thousands have died long before their time. Thge power to be have been running around seeking a way out. None of us know enough about this virus. Sadly, often at such high cost we are learning and sadly often learn too late.

In dispair we trudge forward. Getting kids back to school. Classes reduced from 30or more students down to ten in a class. C'mon be realistic. Play this scenario out. then say to the kids. Sorry you have missed out on a couple of months schooling. This time will be added to your calender.

Fancy going to the shops? And what? stand in line outside for god knows howlong. Then just two in the store. Hey mate! are you going to buy that piece of cheese or worship it?

In the line up outside. I've been here for over an hour. I need the loo. Sorry mate the loos are closed.

So who or what is right.? I fear that this virus is going to stay, that it will become as comon as the common cold. So where do we go from here.???????

Haven't read the article as I don't go on sites that ask me to accept their cookies :noidea: but I've always put the lid down before flushing. :blue thumb: We were taught that as kids - even when there was only an outside toilet.

Just in case someone reads this incorrectly, the virus was in the staff and not the chickens. That company also provides the chicken for the fast food chains. They may have a shortage for a time whilst the factory get back up to full production. Not that the fast food chains are doing a roaring trade!

The meat processing plants are apparently an ideal location for the covid virus. Cool damp and no sunlight are conditions for it to thrive.

You was lucky, as a kid our outside toilet didn't have a lid nor mains water either come to think of it. On our neighbour's farm they had a double seater.

We must have been posh. Although we had a double seater we had a lovely polished wooden seat. The seat wasn't so cold in winter although there was an 18" gap at the bottom and top of the door.

What a stupid item to buy, if you were to touch an infected handle with it, you'd smear virus inside the wallet and onto the end you hold, then transferring it to your hand on next use.

See loads of people walking footpaths, touching gate latches at every field boundary, then lighting up cigarettes, touching their phones, food, etc.
