All I know is that we're ignoring the politicians and experts - and will make our own mind up when we think it's reasonably safe to get out and about.

At the moment that time is August - but it may be longer if people can't comply with the rules - we'll have to see.

So, if I'm reading this right that's 491,856 out of 7.8 billion.
Obviously serious if you know somebody who has died but I dont think its a threat to the human race.

And you are quite reasonable and right to do that @clanless .
But I do find this calendar thing a bit confusing, why August?
Shouldn't it be based on the situation when we get to a point when you in your own mind think it is safe based on the statistics.

It's all kicking off next weekend, foreign holidays, pubs opening and restaurants. Those coming back from holiday won't have to self isolate. It's hardly an easing of lockdown it's full blown back to normal for most. Going by the crowded beach episodes those types of people will be packing the the pubs and crowding travel agencies. We are going for a big spike in the UK.

Yeah but think of all that lovely tax money that will start rolling in again.
                Petrol prices are rising already.

The second peak will be around October so they say but it could be earlier than that the way how people are behaving.

No holidays for us this year, in fact I would not risk a plane flight until October 2021 at the earliest. Our caravan park opens on 4th July, so avoiding the manic first couple of days we can go up there for a short break on the following Tuesday. We can take all our supplies (meaning beer and wine  ) with us. So we can still be isolated. The change of scenery will do us good :blue thumb:

We only have holidays booked within the UK, 3 over the summer coming up soon. We thought about cancelling but what is the alternative for a break? I fear all UK cottages etc will get snapped up quickly by the many not wanting to fly, sensible like you @HarryS. One holiday we have is an apartment overlooking a beach, we will go with the grandkids if allowed, take food and organise click and collect as well. It will be board games and long walks, rather than mixing with others on the beach or amusements. I love being at home in my garden but after 3 months a break would be nice.

First year in ages that I haven't had at least 2 caravan site holidays booked and several camping trips planned. Don't even intend going on a day trip to Chesil Beach for dawn sea fishing then to RSPB Arnie on way back as Chesil is ram packed and roads around back of Bournemouth grid locked. Too many crowds, drunken brawls and stabbings on beaches for my liking.

Assuming it's a static caravan site, sounds ideal. I won't be thinking of taking my tent to campsites until furlough ends and the kids go back to school. Beaches will turn into campsites and I reckon some campsite proprietors are going to have a hard time dealing with unbooked campers who've turned up and pitched overnight.

Hope the sites stay open longer as they're opening late. Although I love the all year ones in the Lake District, all the passes were closed when I was there last December, and many steep slopes on other roads were impassable without a 4x4.

P.S. On Thursday when 500,000? visited Bournemouth, I went on a 2 hour walk along the local footpaths and only saw one other person, a farmworker haymaking, plus about 1,000 butterflies.

Presumably with lots of people who normally go abroad staying at home this year, I would think everywhere is going to be jam packed.
