In the UK our 2 metres is 6 feet (1.8 metres):

or the length of a broom handle + an arm (which all differ):

Which leaves very many people confused as they don't know which distance to ignore.

I find it very difficult carrying a broom everywhere.

@Sandy Ground (apologies for being totally of topic for a moment) you may remember we discussed the problem of bees on the lawn when mowing and you said you would look at a brush or a blower attached to the front of the mower (mention of a broom brought it to mind). My new mower has solved the problem. The exhaust has been repositioned and now blows straight forward and works quite well. :)

I regard Mp's as being daft as brushes, and the country does not seem to have any problem carrying them!:loll:

@shiney, I do recall. Good to see the problem solved for you.

@Scrungee the "6 feet/2 metres thing proves something that I have thought for quite a while. The UK is converting to metric inch by inch...and there is still a short distance to go!

Apologies in advance to everyone for going off ropic with this post.

:ideaIPB: Will you get a rebate for any 20% VAT you've already paid on deposits, now it's been reduced to 5% on hols?

I wondered about that - will certainly try :blue thumb:

We are down to two breaks now, the third one got cancelled, it involved swimming pools and spas and that is just not worth the risk even if they were allowed to open.

All ours were cancelled - either by us or them. We have had the deposit back from all except one of them that we have moved to 2022. The VAT will be back on by then.

Most holiday invoices only show deposits as a separate figure and they are certain to argue that the lower VAT rate will show on the final balance.

I will only potentially save between £1.25 and £1.88 per night on the £10 - £15/night campsite pitch fees I pay, but I expect their prices will remain the same (at best) and they will simply charge their price list wording from "all charges include VAT at 20%" to all charges include VAT at 5% :frown:

They might, possibly , reduce it by a pound.

If you've got an MOT test coming up, beware. Just went to book my car in (with garage that does servicing to keep warranty valid) as mine is due in a month, and was told there's a 3 month waiting list caused by loads of people who are still exempt booking up all the slots and preventing those whos mots are due from 1st Aug getting one done. Luckily a local garage can fit me in before it expires.
