@pete I'm sorry to hear you have been pressed back into work but you now have the opportunity to work off the beer belly you'd barely begun trying to achieve.

@Jenny namaste thank you for the giggle. A fun mask!

We have another 3 new cases in our area bringing the active to 29. This includes probable cases as they are playing games with them numbers to make it look worse and no longer breaking out that data. My region has a population of 451,000 so I'm guessing that most are behaving themselves.

So this virus stupidity has been going on for about 5 months now.
First we had the 6ft 6 3/4inch rule , then we "progressed" to the 39 3/8inch rule plus.

Saw some very clever school teachers putting out chairs in a classroom on the news, using a measuring tape, which kept folding and flying back into case.
How about cutting off a stick, might be easier:scratch::ideaIPB:

Now me being stupid I thought the "Plus" bit meant if you're wearing a mask you could go down to the smaller distance and still be ultra safe.;)

But going to the local shops I still find bits of paper sellotaped to the doors saying " 2 customers at a time", so big queues outside all the shops.

How do you find out how many are in there without going in and counting? When there isn't a queue.
It's madness, got thrown out the chemists because there was two in there rummaging around already, but you cant see them without going in, likewise the hardware store.

If we must follow this idiotic idea maybe they could just buy a green and red light bulb and a battery, and put them near the entrance.:ideaIPB:

that’s exactly what they’ve done in Aldi’s! The automatic doors won’t open if the shop is “full”, and there’s a red light.

another method many shops here in Belgium are using is having a set number of trolleys available. You have to take a trolley to enter the store. No trolley = store full.
                Simples!

Well, my local morrisons has lifted all restrictions now and apart from wearing a mask its pretty much back to normal.
But I'm mostly referring to the small shops like newsagents, chemists, hardware.
They still going along with the two customers at a time, but you cant see how many are in there from the outside.
And you spend ages waiting while the ones in there wander around looking for something they never even intended buying and then having a yarn with one another.
If they go out of business it will be their own fault.

:yikes: Algarve has registered 37 new cases yesterday ... and 33 are from a football team! :wallbanging: Personally I don't understand why football has been allowed to continue worldwide as so many have been infected ... it is too touchy feely. :dunno: And another 50 of Portugal's numbers plus two deaths are from a religious gathering up North ... someone wasn't watching out for them.

I'm just wondering where this is all going, what is the plan, what is the ultimate aim?

Do we just shut down the whole world?

What we are doing is not working and never will because it will not wipe the virus out.

The "plan" seems to only hinge around one thing, a vaccine, and that seems to be taking longer and longer, and is it really a viable long term thing?
Most viruses mutate, so by the time they come up with a vaccine it might well be obsolete.

Why did so called Spanish flu die out?

                        Spanish Flu Pandemic Ends
By the summer of 1919, the flu pandemic came to an end, as those that were infected either died or developed immunity.

Trollies can be used by a single person, or a whole gaggle of parents, children and maybe an elderly grandparent or two.

Stores would have to make them all have their own trollies to ensure only a certain number of people were inside their store.

There's a man in China who had it in March, he got it again but with no symptoms, it mutated slightly he only knew when he was tested.

Would have to have the vaccine like the flu vaccine, adjust it every time and have it every year but with 2 injections.

It takes time to develop one and they've got to know that it's safe.

Yeah, I know, but its all getting very tedious, and there is that word again, "Safe."
