We are going under a State of Contingency on the 15th. The conditions are being considered and we will know on the 8th. This has come about for two reasons 1) school goes back on the 15th and 2) the UK travel bridge opening.

Algarve has 45 new cases since it opened brought in by foreigners. Apparently Faro was not prepared for the eight planes that landed one after the other on Wednesday (fortunately not all full) and there were only two SEF staff (Border Security) on duty. They had to call in 12 more urgently and 10 more are on duty starting tomorrow. I heard four come in one after the other a half hour ago (they sometimes circle this way depending on the wind).

Picture from Wednesday ... no distancing ...

It is no surprise that we have not flown in 22 years! :yikes:

The Selleri family is now officially a dot in statistics. Our first household study visit was today, we had to take the swabs ourselves (just throat and nostrils, not the dreadful all the way down your nose they do in hospitals. ) It was ok actually. I have done worse things for £50  The teenager has already firm plans for her vouchers, it's quite a healthy amount of compensation at £50 for this visit and £25 for the next ones, weekly this month and then monthly for a year. I wonder who pays for it. (Yes, probably we taxpayers... )

The data they collect is very interesting, here's the link:

There's already been anti-vaxxer demonstrations around the world claiming it will be unsafe when it's produced.

From what I've read, he had symptoms the first time, when he produced antibodies, and was asymptomatic the second time.

So huge numbers of those to be vaccinated may still catch it but could all be asymptomatic and unknowingly transmit it to both the vaccinated and the unvacinated, but only the latter will suffer.

I forsee a lawsuit brought against the vaccine manufactures by anti-vaxxers for producing something that increases the risk of harm to the unvaccinated, as with other vaccines, others being vaccinated reduce the risk to the unvaccinated, but now others being vaccinated could actually increase the risk to the unvaccinated.

Surely that has always been the way, when it first started they said keep washing your hands, presumably because you pass it on by touch.
So you only have to touch something contaminated to then pass it on to someone else even though you might not have it.

Or was that just a load of old rubbish and scaremongering on behalf of the government.;)

Umm, under the stricter version of the rules, it was only one person per household shopping, and also for only 30 mins...

Well it's there own fault, they should have been vaccinated.

Off topic, but hopefully this is allowed in an offtopic section. It boils my blood to read about the vaccination resentfuls in my home country Finland. This winter we had several bouts of measles in an area of Finland where vaccinations are widely condemned as, well, not good. I'll leave it at that.

Just to note, with grinding teeth, there are children in those communities suffering from cancer, waiting for a transplant, etc. They might be happier if the community around them were measles free.

Measles is "just another of those mandatory childhood illnessess" to the majority who survived them, again with the majority with no after effects. The minorities died, or became disabled for life.

The Swine Flu vaccine caused a bout of narcolepsy some years ago.

The Covid jabsare yet to be tested. Apparently. that's being done in Russia, USA and China at the moment. I'll wait and see a bit longer for now.

Yes, it's the tax payer. I've been working with the ONS for years and this year is the first time I've received anything for it (I'm on their survey panel). They do a good job but only collate info and leave it to government departments to come up with their interpretations (outside of the statistical conclusions).

When hubby was little he had whooping cough and now when he has a cold it goes straight to his chest, he was lucky he got over it but a lot don't, don't know if he had the vaccine for it.

Our son had all his when he was a baby, he didn't have anything until he was in his twenties, he got the measles.
