It depends on whether you're thinking of the pre 1974 UK billion or not. In those days the UK version was a million million and the U.S. version was a thousand million. Nowadays ours has been over-ruled!

    Roughly 0.00013% but it's still a million - so it's a lot!

So nothing else matters, I just dont get that and never will.
The virus is a serious problem I dont doubt, but you cant just stop the world.

Unless you would prefer to go back to living in caves, which we might if we carry on like this, but I heard a doctor who works for the World Health Organisation the other day make a statement to the effect that they estimate 10% of the world population have been exposed.

But we dont have 10% of the population dead.

Until more of the population become exposed, this will go on, I'm sure that must be the ultimate plan, but they wont tell us that.
So a controlled approach is what is happening.
If a million is a lot, what is 7.8 billion?

It's like the distance from here to Mars is a long way but so is from here to the nearest town if I try to walk it - totally irrelevant to what is happening around me. :)

It's all relative - so that must be relativity. :ideaIPB:

Well, Well! Just momentarily side-stepping the seriousness of Covid-19. It has certainly drawn out of the woodwork, a multitude of Professors. At one time I pictured a Prof to be scruffy, tangled, unkept hair, if any was left and conversation being fumbled and hard to follow.

Wow! now there are so many popping up on our tv screens. Not just the dodery old men but so many young women. Honestly. I don't know. Has perhaps the standard/quality of education changed so much. Has it become the new norm for uni staff residents to in some way to be rewarded with that status. I don't know. However mixing with some really great individuals. I have found that, dragging them away from their pet subject. Oh! dear. Oh! dear, so sad. In many cases common perhaps basic general knowledge, is sadly missing. Never mind. Good luck and best wishes to them all.

Sorry, according to my calculations it is roughly 0.013%.

The difference between isolating yourself and some one who flouts the rules, is one will survive and the other one probably won’t

my wife’s work mate has tested positive and is now in hospital due to her diabetes, in lockdown she was the most bored person on this earth.
When we came out she was all over the place visiting other towns and beaches, but said we stayed in hotels to be apart from other people, well so did all the other guests.

does this affect me well in a way yes 3 people have self isolated who she worked with ( her boss scolded her for telling them even though she is obliged to tell them under track and trace ), 1 of the 3 who my wife had contact with was stopped from going home to self isolate as his boss wanted to find a loop hole to stop him, his boss with no symptoms rushed out to try and lie to get a test, whilst he a foster parent could find non available. So if he tests positive and has past it on to my wife then we are at risk, she’s diabetic and I have a chronic lung disease.

what a vicious circle we live in

A friend of ours went to her GP feeling so ill she had to be assisted in (and out of the surgery). Despite having no Corvid symtoms whatsoever, the nurse who saw her diagnosed Corvid, told her to get tested and didn't investigate any further.

The next day an ambulance was called to take her into hospital, where she was discovered to be suffering from blood poisoning. A few days later whilst she was recovering in hospital, her phone rang - it was the hospital telling her she needed to take a Corvid test, presumably following up on her visit to her GP.

The member of hospital staff calling didn't have a clue that she was in hospital, nor that she already had a negative test in there, so couldn't have carried out the most rudimentary checks.

So who's to blame for that shambles?

                            1) Boris Johnson
                            2) Matt Handcock
                            3) Dominic Cummings

                            Or,

                            4) The NHS :yikes:
