Yes, I know how it feels. And what worries me most of all that in case I get it nobody will be trying to save me just saying that I am old and with a lot of health problems anyway. I have seen only my daughter since the lockdown. I sometimes go for a walk in the nearest park either with my daughter or alone. And people there surprise me a lot behaving as nothing have changed. I think I am the only one who keeps the 2m distance. Sometimes it's difficult when people are walking, running or cycling behind you. But I need these rare walks because of my poor blood circulation.

All of them together. Yesterday there was an article how a lady with a child couldn't be tested in her area and had to travel for 4 hours for such a test.

My friend couldn't get tested because she was too ill with blood poisoning to drive or organise it. If she could've she might have died before she got the result.

P.S. It was easy to get a test 5 miles away at the time this happened.

The queues of people on the news outside test sites all look pretty healthy to me, if they weren't they wouldn't be able to stand there for hours.

Is there any point in going for a test just because you have been near someone who has been near someone who might have it, and if you have got it how long does it take to incubate and show up on a test?

My understanding of it was you self isolate and only get a test if you have symptoms.

[QUOTE="Covid-19 … has certainly drawn out of the woodwork, a multitude of Professors. [/QUOTE]

It has certainly drawn out another kind of "professor" too - those whose University is twitter and facebook, and have no qualifications or experience in anything remotely related to epidemics, public health or viruses, yet who think they know it all. Same with every subject.

          That's very true Simon.
I'm a west country wurzel type of guy.
Whereas my daughter has a phd, related to biology and health and works in the NHS.
I think you mentioned sensibly in a post further back how important it is to listen to the people that have been there, seen it and done it.
I always like to hear others opinions and the only peeps that i find irritating are the few that 'know it all' about every single subject lol.
This good forum has a very broad mix of members and i guess i could get advise on almost anything on here.
People experience so many different ups and downs in their lives, and with them acrue wisdom.

I just can't understand why to go far away for a test and to queue if you already have symptoms. It will make you feel worse and you can pass the virus to somebody else. In this way you endanger your life and at the same time lives of other people. People should behave sensibly, not like that 'super hero' Cummings.

This blooming virus. I was hoping to get into the office for my second "in" week after March, but as I take the bus it's probably not going to happen. Better to leave the bus for the folks that have no choice and reduce the number of people in that confined space.

Overall, the Little Mrs Cynical within me is having a great time. "Eat Out To Help Out". Indeed, encourage people to visit pubs and restaurants in person and then tut tut that a significant venue of virus spread is in pubs and restaurants.

The tough measures we have now here in the North East include pubs closing at 10pm. Many have already pointed out that it encourages heavier drinking upto the closing time and the drunken parties then going elsewhere (together) to continue the party night.

Sadly, the hospital beds are filling up. This is not a social nor a moral discussion, this is a disease that is taking people to hospital and is killing them. It reflects the impact of Tuberculosis at the time, or the Poxes.

It's sad that we need to make decisions to keep the economy running whilst knowing that each visit to hairdressers will increase the spread and kill people.

Anyways, have a great weekend everyone. :)

A friend of ours about 60 had a heart attack and had an open heart operation for several hours in a Liverpool hospital. Everything would have been a success if not that bloody covid. He got infected in hospital while he was recovering from his operation. Fortunately he was saved but still recovering from covid.

Is anyone genuinely surprised the news of rising infections? Would love to know why, if so.

I am not surprised because it happens when and if people can't live without pubs, restaurants and large parties.
At the same time a lot of people have become tired of being scared all the time. It is difficult to believe that it is really dangerous until somebody close to you suffers a lot or even passes away.

Unless we live in permanent lockdown it will always do this.
                      It's to be expected.
