Flippin heck, first a second wave of panick buying, and and today a wave of panick birding as birders flocked to my local nature reserve thinking the hides are about to be closed again, only 3 weeks after they reopened.

When I got to the car park at the end of a small track and saw nearly every space had been taken, I just turned round and came back home again.

Considerable confusion after the announcements today, the stuff on working from home in particular has put me in a complex situation which I'm having to try and resolve before tomorrow morning. However, I did think the Vallance/Whitty briefing yesterday was informative, and rebutted many of the oft-heard claims about the reasons for rising infections and so on. I also found this article by Tom Chivers was very interesting. Obviously he's a journalist not a medic, but the piece deals with statistics and claims by other journos, so I thought it was a worthwhile contribution to the debate. It, too, addresses head-on many of the claims by sceptics. Worth pointing out to those who don't know that Unherd has often been quite lockdown-sceptic Is this the second wave? - UnHerd

I'm afraid that bloke is on a different planet to me.
Is he a real person or just some computer generated know it all.

I'm assuming by "that bloke" you're referring to Tom, not me :) He is, in fact, a real writer! We are both poets, though, and I noticed only after reading and sharing the piece that he is the same Tom Chivers who recently rejected one of my manuscripts for publication, so he clearly has his head screwed on!
What aspect(s) of the article did you not agree with?

Actually I'm wrong again - he is a different Tom Chivers. He is a science writer who recently wrote a book about AI.

Its not a case of not agreeing it more about not understanding.
Which is why I thought it was computer generated.
But then I'm pretty basic so I guess someone can work out his point.

There is a lot I don't understand about parts of this whole covid issue, which is why I'm so keen on paying heed to scientists and those in positions to know more about it than me. My only hope is that those in authority are being similarly guided by scientific evidence and opinion. Worryingly, this seems to be less and less the case, and I'm not just talking about national government.

So you understand all that double talk?
I cant make head nor tail of what he is saying other than he doesn't agree with Redwood and Hartley- Brewer.
To be honest I dont know what those two are saying either, I tend to make my own mind up about things.

As Boris is clearly having a tough day today, I thought I would help and create him a guide that will hopefully help him in the future.....
