I don't use a mobile phone but what would I gain from this app - if anything please?

 

Hands up all those looking at this thread who are under 40

Just wondering if we are getting a balanced view of the situation.

 

I would be surprised at another lockdown. All language out of No. 10 is that they are absolutely desperate to avoid it, ministers stress it is a last resort, the chancellor is wholly opposed, as are many Tory MP's, Labour has said they would oppose it, and businesses have spelt out the possible economic consequences. Unions are pretty unanimous in supporting workplaces re-opening. My nephew is a teacher and according to him most of his colleagues feel at risk, but no-one dares say anything because they have had it rammed down their throats that covid is more or less over now. My main employer has insisted we all return, albeit it on slightly reduced hrs, with no plans for any kind of restriction in the future, and from what I hear this is commonplace across the board except people working in offices. Moreover, the general consensus seems to be that people are now bored of covid so we have to now go "back to normal". For me this involves taking my chances on trains, where not everyone abides by guidelines. I don't blame anyone and I know there is a balance to be struck in terms of health and job security/economics - and everyone, from the government to employers are attacked whatever options they go for - but I do think social media rumours of a second lockdown are premature, especially as Boris seems to be setting a 6-month timescale to test the latest restrictions. If restrictions are increased again, I suspect it will just be more tweaks around pub opening hrs and how many people you can invite into your home.

 

My hand is raised - but only for another four months. When I turn 40 in Jan, does that mean I become officially unbalanced?

 

Its just so if there are cases reported from a premises you've visited, and they want to contact everyone who has been there within a certain timeframe in case they have been infected, your contact details are logged. The details are only stored for a certain amount of time and are very basic. And its voluntary in most places.

Probably should have said local lockdowns and going backwards as regarding restrictions

 

And then by law you have to self isolate.
Which is ok, if the app works properly.

Although I'm administering this to the public, and indeed wrote the instructions, I don't have a smartphone myself. However, the only place I go these days is my local Tesco and they don't seem to have anything in place. Where I work, we give customers the option of using the app, or just telling us their details which we then input onto a datatabase linked to the same NHS source.

 

Depending if ones condition dictates avoiding certain food stuffs, or is a personal choice, or medical recognised. Can you not register with the Gov. as a vulnerable person, then contact your store/supermarket chain and benefit from special online ordering. I don't know, just a thought.

No, actually. Then you are advised to self-isolate. You are not obliged to by law unless you are contacted by Track and Trace...

 

I downloaded the app, and entered all my details - no problems. Now when I have a few apps open on my phone i.e News, Whatsapp , Email , Chrome etc etc . Every now and then I close all apps to stop the phone getting cluttered. Will the NHS tracking app still be running in the background Or should it be opened every time I go out? Not very practical.
