I am not for one second decrying Excel's capabilities - I've been using the blighter for years and still don't know half of what it can do, but it is a spreadsheet and not a database. It is much easier to report on your chosen specifics when you are storing data in a database, and if it is built correctly the data itself is well away from the front end and thus safe.

The trouble with Excel (and I suspect this is what has happened here) is as you know that it requires you to tell it the range that it is looking at to calculate the desired answer - - if you have data outside that range, it simply isn't going to look at it. You tell a database query to go off and look at the chosen fields in a table against your criteria, and it will look at the whole table unless you have done something really wrong.

That would suggest that they are using a version before 2007 then, and deserve everything they get. This is not a list of their lunch preferences they are handling, this is literally life or death data - it should be on the most up to date and secure equipment possible, and monitored closely by IT specialists.

On the radio this morning they said it was a 2005 version. I can't actually remember the figures but for some reason the number 'no more than 67,000 rows' seems to ring a bell.

Sounds about right - if I recall correctly, that leapt up to somewhere around 1.2m with later versions. For clarity, these are the people that are controlling most aspects of our lives - - boils my pee.

OK, Let's have our own party. Shall we call it 'Gardeners United' or 'Green Fingers United'? And Pete as our Leader? Or shall we vote? Then we'll need vote of no confidence to the present government and new elections. Ready?

Just listened to Dr Judin's method of treating Covid at the early stage. As soon as you have first symptoms of Covid take a pot with 1 litre of water and 1 table spoon of soda and boil it. After that inhale the vapour of such water for 15 min 3 times/day for several days. The virus will be killed and you are cured. But be careful with the vapour, do not burn your throat and nose.
