It's not just the people I've spoken to. On the radio the other day they interviewed some people who are in the Track and Trace system who have also said that when the government is saying that there are highly trained people doing the work they are glossing over a lot of problems. They are also recruiting untrained students to man/woman the phones for tracing.

We also have personal experience of incompetence by some of the people and the lack of any initiative by some of them. They were supposed to contact me but a week later I received an email, from another source, telling me they were unable to find me - despite me having a copy of a document with my name, address and phone number that they acknowledged at the time. They obviously knew who I was as the other department were given my email by them - because (so I was told) Track and Trace never send emails.

I can't go into this any further as it is being followed up.

Peace and Gardening go with you.

Regarding shopping in supermarkets, I find its a free for all when going round the store, then when you reach the checkout its all social distanced.

Regarding a second lockdown and how it would affect business etc.
I think lots weathered the last lockdown because they could see a very slight glimmer of hope, kind of get through this and things will get better, a second lockdown means things wont get better for who knows how long.
Those that hung on last time will surely throw in the towel this time, as it looks like the future is lockdown after lockdown, and nobody knows when it might end.

I did hear a person who used to be pretty high up at a well know Pharmaceutical company saying he saw tests being analysed by rows of people working in a marquis.
He stated that it was a ridiculous way to be doing something that should be done in sterile conditions.
Kind of saying testing wasn't worth doing if you are going about it like that.

I think the testing has been a publicity stunt from the start, and to be honest I really cant see what good it does.
Negative today, positive tomorrow, is there any real point.

I think our best hope is that an effective vaccine comes along, even if we have to have regular ‘boosters’. Otherwise, the future looks pretty bleak I think.

I've no love for the pharma industry and have no doubts corners are cut, and bad decisions made, in every kind of job. A bit different to literally lying though.

[QUOTE I have to do the shopping shortly, and will do my best to keep my distance, as I’ve always done, but from experience I know full well I’ll be the odd one out.[/QUOTE]

trying to imagine how I would react if i saw Worzel Gummidge pushing a trolley down the aisle in my local supermarket...

I do my shopping at 6 a.m. :blue thumb: No trouble with distancing at that time as there are no other customers around.

I find that everything is fine, until ‘humans’ become involved.

Just back from the supermarket. An orderly queue outside, waiting to go in. Once inside, a free-for-all.

I see the PM's statement is now due for 6.30. I wonder by what time the internet will be aflame with people posting in great detail about why whatever move he announces is 100% wrong in every possible respect, that he has "blood on his hands" and that the entire problem of covid could be solved in the blink of an eye if only we did what they, in their undoubted wisdom, based on no experience or scientific qualifications, think we should do instead. 6.33? 6.32?

I can start now if you would like. Whilst I have no qualifications, the data that we are being presented with does not seem to justify a lockdown - especially a half arsed one.
