I’m no expert, but I think your numbers demonstrate the need for those at risk to get themselves immunised. The need for masks and social distancing? I’m guessing that will depend mostly on the rate of infection/number of cases (suck it and see). Ultimately, it’s in ‘our’ own hands, so this will probably carry on longer than it needs to.

Postcode for garden open days gives Uttlesford as your Local Authority area:

      Screenshot_20201111-042630.png

If different sites are giving different infection rates it could mislead some people into believing they are in areas of low infection, when in fact they are rising rapidly.

I also check adjoining areas as hordes of them are streaming out into the countryside pass9ng through our village on foot, bike, etc. and using our pubs and shop.

Whenever I see my local area is supposed to be low, I do not change my behaviour and become complacent, but continue to act as if everybody out there may have it.

Good morning @wiseowl :) I thought I would use the official government site and would certainly have done so if I'd known it was lower. I like lower. :heehee:

I've now looked up the latest figures for our parish, seven days to Nov 5th, and it shows 76.8 cases. Does that mean that one person only has 80% of the coronavirus?

Might be an error there. Populations of parishes are normally so small that rates per 100,000 may not be an appropriate measure.

The population of your parish would need to be 1,000,000 (one million), with 768 of them infected with Covid-19 to arrive at an infection rate of 76.8 per 100,000.

It says 63 (at least it's a whole number :)) and then the rolling rate (whatever that is ) of 76.8. (I said it was peculiar.)

I don't really care which it is. :noidea: :heehee:

A difference of 16.8 per 100,000 in a parish of 2,000 would mean about one third of a parishioner. How on earth can they differ by less than one whole person? Maybe more dodgy spreadsheets, or a big 'townie' parish with a population around 6,000.

Have you checked the infection rate around your local school here COVID-19 Map for schools

Might help you get to 13

Really can be bothered - but a quick look works out that we have about 1.35 children in the school with coronavirus. :loll:

I did walk past the school this morning and they were just as noisy as usual. :heehee:

Trying to calculate small numbers certainly messes up the system.

Both @wiseowl and myself pick what we like the best and we keep ourselves away from others anyway :noidea:
