Yes it is Shiney. You have been there and know it is more congested.

The North has 3,576,205 inhabitants 173 per square kilometre. (21,278 kilometres)

The Algarve has 451,006 permanent inhabitants 90 per square kilometre.(4,997 km2)

Yesterday they had 4,070 new cases and we had 57.

We have a problem here because from October through March we have maybe 100,000+ or more non-resident inhabitants (campsites/caravaners/etc) who are getting the virus having brought it in from other countries and living in close quarters. There are also a high number of Expats who live here (like in Spain( under the radar so are not counted in our resident numbers. Brits are the worst. It has bumped our numbers up and one died in the week, a man from Ireland.

I meant to say, one of the "part time residents" from Alvor Campsite in Algarve ... who is not one of the population but counted against the population. Tavira's coronavirus cases are 70% foreigners!

Victoria, have you seen this information? Screenshot_20201123_001410_com.facebook.katana.jpg
I've read about the Portuguese Tribunal decision as of 11.11.20 that Covid tests are false positive from 90 % up to 97% and because of that the quarantine should be considered illegal. This information is from German and Russian mass media. I don't know if it is true or fake.

This has been reported on fake news sites i.e. Distributed News. As Victoria said no test is 100% accurate but the amount of money spent testing demonstrates it must have some effect.
Fake news is a major problem, I think some actions will be taken worldwide to curb it soon.

Edit : Victoria, I think the Tap News site you found also has dubious credibility looking at some of the other articles:yikes:

@HarryS I agree. I was just looking for anything relating to the article posted by @Black Orchid. I get detailed reports twice a week on news from mainland Portugal, Madeira and the Azores. Supposedly this was about an incident in The Azores ans I cannot find anything pertaining to it or the PCP tests.

This weekend brought news to us. Our friend Andy who is going to do some work for us contacted us to say one of his sons has been in contact with a school friend who has tested positive therefore all the family are isolating ... which includes Andy's parents in their 70s ... our good friends in our "bubble" so to speak!

Also our good friend John has contacted us to say his next door neighbour at his townhouse has tested positive so he is going to his 58 hectare farm for two weeks to isolate. We were supposed to get together this week.

I just hope none of the above are positive, not that we have seen them for a couple of weeks and when Andy came to measure for the quote on Thursday he had a mask on, the guys did not shake hands and I stayed indoors.

And here we are in the low risk County ... so no one is safe.

I see that the Oxford vaccine results are out and that AstraZeneca will shortly send the trials data to the MHRA.

A couple of additonal snippets of information which moves this vaccine into a different ball park:

the Oxford jab is far cheaper, and is easier to store and get to every corner of the world than the other two. So the vaccine will play a significant role in tackling the pandemic, if it is approved for use by regulators.

Nobody getting the actual vaccine developed severe-Covid or needed hospital treatment

The brainiac on the TV also said that the vaccine has already been manufactured and is sitting on a shelf ready to be taken out of the cupboard and deployed.

Boris has ordered 100 million doses which is enough for everyone in the UK.

I reckon this is the vaccine that will have the biggest impact.

Yes, good news. The challenge now is to convince the public that it’s not yet all over and that as many as possible need to take up the vaccine.

Another positive snippet about the Oxford vaccine:

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency in the UK has been conducting "rolling reviews" of the safety, manufacturing standards and effectiveness of the Oxford vaccine. It means a decision on whether the vaccine can be used will come early.

I agree Freddy, plus still wear masks in shops and keep your distance, I know this doesn't appear to apply to some walking around in groups.

If people took the rules seriously in March we wouldn't be in the situation were are in now.

Yesterday neighbours had family round to join them in their hot tub. I doubt if they were wearing masks
