Just when they start saying things might start getting better soon the scientists have come up with a new strain, yeah this thing is all round the world but Kent has to have the new strain.
Starting to wonder about all this.......

Any one see Khan's face mask on the news, if it had been just slightly bigger he would have completely disappeared. :roflol:

Bear in mind that the announcement yesterday was just a precursor to the main announcement which happens tomorrow - they only did that yesterday for the SE because the virus is raging like wildfire with 0.2% of the population being infected.

I've just seen Dr Sarah Jarvis on BBC Breakfast, and in all honesty she was the best advert for not getting the vaccine I have seen yet. She was talking about the 'new' strain of virus that has miraculously appeared in the South of England and due to a change in the spikes on this new strain of virus it was likely that the current vaccine would not work for it..... but not to worry because this new strain was no more dangerous than the current one and did not seem to be causing any worse symptoms or complications, so everything would be OK...... oh, but it does spread faster.

              But its fine.

              We think.

              Maybe.

They are just making this up as they go along now. I'd much rather they were honest, let us all out of prison and simply told us that there was a nasty flu bug going about that they have no idea how to control.

@Fat Controller that's not how I heard it.
I'm sure she said atm there is no evidence that the vaccine would be less effective against the new strain.
She did go on to mention the problem they had with mink catching it and how they exterminated all those animals with a strain that the vaccine was unlikely to work on.

Are we being fed yet more bull I'm not sure, but some strange things going on that's for sure.

Of course it is bull - the whole reason that the flu vaccine takes time to formulate each year is that they have to tailor it to the specific strains that they anticipate they are going to encounter each year. Each strain of the flu (a coronavirus) is different. How are we supposed to believe that they now have a new strain of Covid but at the same time the existing vaccine will deal with it? It seems that not only is this new strain spreading faster, so is the loss of common sense.

Same here pete. The virus mutates, because that what virus's do. But on current information the vaccine will be effective on this mutation. No need to cause panic!
This must be happening in other countriesas well? I am sure the USA won't want to be left behind on new mutations.

Well yes I do tend to think along those lines.
But I'm wondering if the new strain has been dreamt up to explain why tier 4 or is it 3 :rolleyespink: doesn't work.
We have been in the highest tier for a few weeks and cases are still rising.
                          It's just not working.
