I as many will completely agree and feel the same ..IMHO it's always been down to the 'Great British' public to do what is asked of them..what it's going to take for some to wake up God only knows but we'll just keep on trying to do the right thing.

Heard some disturbing news on the radio this morning. At some point last Wednesday there were only 10 unoccupied ICU beds available in the whole of Wales.

Despite warnings from scientists and public health officials - we're about to head into a coronavirus spreading Xmas and then on the 28th straight into Tier 4 - very high risk lockdown.

On a day where I/we hear ambulances are waiting for hours outside hospitals, treating covid patients on board, one cannot help but ask what happened to all those Nightingale hospitals that were set up costing tens of millions ?

Jenny....but if we think about it the virus is only trying to survive...which is a natural instinct for all living things, or so I use to think. Now there seems to be a percentage of humans who seem hell bend on ' living for today ' and fingers crossed for their own survival and for those they come in contact with.
I blame the little human sh#ts who aren't seemingly in survival mode......they are the spreaders. This virus needs feeding to survive and some humans are offering them easy access to quick and fast 'takeways' .

We have to be cruel to be kind ( to ourselves and the human race).....and starve it to death!!

As I understand it - the rainbow/nightingale hospitals are there to take on near recovered covid patients - to release the fully kitted out ICU beds in the permanent hospitals.

There's been a load of roadworks around our local rainbow hospital - to smooth traffic flow - it's getting ready to dish out jabs.

                      Hi,

Just beginning to wonder if we have missed the plot - a friend who has been off work most of this year officially shielding due to cancer and other problems, has just been out to pick up two of his grandchildren from school ( no masks) and they will be staying overnight, again.
Cannot see the sense in it , or is it just us ...?

Re the previous posts about the hospitals being full, like in NI, wonder why they do not use the Army, RAF and Navy trained medical folk to staff and set up field hospitals or man the nightingales, which seemily cannot run very well without depleting the main hospitals of staff ?

I heard someone, (just another expert), on the TV saying if the test is not done by a properly trained person it can give a false reading.
But I keep seeing people being handed swabs and shoving them in their mouths or poking them up their noses.

It seems you do your own test.:rolleyespink:

While Service Medical Staff are well trained they are not able, except in the very small number, (5) of Service Hospitals, able to carry out surgery or taking on infectious disease cases. The actual number of Skilled skilled medical staff available is really, in reality, so small that it would make no difference. But using some Medical and other trained Service staff to carry out the COVID tests is a help but, again, our Services have been so reduced over the years on all fronts that there is a limited number available.:dunno:

That suggests to me two things - firstly, Covid is really bad in Wales, but secondly there are insufficient ICU beds in Wales even for normal times

Sadly, in Wales, infections are running out of control. We are rapidly climbing back to pre first lock down levels. I reckon people have seen that there is a vaccine and have relaxed their guard. Covid is still very much here - in my case - it's in the next road - track and trace.

Wth infections reaching a critical point - Mark is allowing households to mix this Xmas. Well, it's only once a year isn't it......
