Flu virus mutates every year so the flu jab has to be updated yearly.
Will it be the same for Covid ? Annual Covid jabs...?

I hope to god there is an effective treatment, I've got to go and tell my wife that her younger brother who had to have a heart bypass recently has contracted covid and his organs are shutting down, the next 48 hrs are critical, I'm a mess myself i Don't know how the hell I'm going to do it.

I would think as both Flu and Covid are in the same family of virus , that a new trimmed version of the vaccine would be needed each season. But who knows, everyone is learning by the day.

The USA has just officially recorded 317469 Covid fatalities, and that's probably a lower rate of actual fatalities due to those missed due to not being recognised.

That saying. 'There's now't so strange as folk' has certainly got an element of truth to it.Then deaf ear that so many cock, when advice is being offered. Whilst at hospital a few days ago. A very loud mouth young woman was telling, presumeably her mother, that all this covid thing was a big hoax that the government had cooked up. Neither she or her mum had face masks.

Although family members have been kept from comforting dying loved ones in ICU, I hate to even think of their actions and outbursts at seeing the painful struggling to breath, even with oxygen masks and drugs. Although so long before covid. I sat at my dad's bedside and even though thankfully, he had passed more or less into unconscienous it was still so distressing. More than likely the very ones who flount the rules, may not ever be struck down with the virus, but whose to say how many others they have infected.

Like the cockey driver. I've never had an accident in all my life. Take a look in the rearview mirror at the number of accidents you have caused.

Please friends. Heed whatever warnings are give and Stay Safe.

I have to disagree with your "missed due to" comment @ARMANDII . Over here, if I got run over by a bus tomorrow, they did an autopsy, discovered covid antibodies in my blood even though I had had not so much as a sore throat, it would be counted as a covid death. They are tricky with their wording. Using everything from, "covid related", "covid present", etc. Total rubbish as they are not deaths due to the virus alone or even as the main killer where other underlying conditions are present but a raw tally of any indicator that might be connected to covid no matter now insignificant. Even the "counts" each day should not to be relied on for truth. Tests that haven't been processed are counted as positive until proven otherwise.

I was referring to those fatalities where earlier in the year, Lori, people have died at home. in a Care Home. or elsewhere and there was no proof of Covid so they were recorded as other causes. We had that problem here in the UK in the early months of the pandemic where it was later realised that some earlier deaths had not been recorded as Covid related.:dunno::dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Returning to the covid thread and also comments about surgeries. I get regulat text messages on the mobile from the pharmacy, and the hospital for appointments etc. Also the surgery has recently been undergoing some new iseas. Number of doctors has increaed a lot recently, the practice has taken in a couple of other surgeries. Probably also some new boy on the block is attempting to make his mark. The idea appears to be heading toward the patient telling the GP whats wrong etc. I have been with this practice since 1964, and I am not changing my ways now.

Well, the ones missed at the beginning are, in my opinion, far outnumbered by the over reporting of deaths, that are supposedly truly down to the virus, for the last six months.

Any death is sad and I find this lumping the number of deaths into the "due to covid" category the way it is being done, here is totally irresponsible and disrespectful to the dead.

I would rather my coroner's report , after being run over by a bus would be not be, due to covid but, "she with her looks, she could stop a bus but... " :heehee:

I've read online that big turkeys are being reduced in supermarkets due to a sudden fall in demand, but smaller ones remain full price.

As we are doing Christmas "home alone", we bought a turkey crown last week. Should be a lot easier to cook, rather than wrestling with the monster we usually buy.
Christmas day will be a drive round the family for a chicken leg handshake on the drive and a glass of fizz. Weather is going to be freezing, but dry at least.
