Mum who is 90 got a check up call from surgery instead of her usual mot visit, was told they would put her on the home visit for her jab.

Also talking to the nurse about vitamin D ,nurse told her not to buy them over the counter.as it could affect the other medication and vitamins she takes.

Must admit I hadn't thought of this.

Mrs Shiney has her meds monitored by the doctor and said she's OK with taking her Vit D. I don't have meds so can't affect them.

Surgery just phoned me to change my jab appointment, they've made it 75 minutes earlier :rolleyespink:. Possibly not sufficient uptake of the set appointments. :noidea:

Portugal has lost the plot Central and North (Lisbon up) so our lockdown will continue a further two weeks till Feb 15. Therefore Alentejo and Algarve with our 542 cases total yesterday out of 10,765 suffer the consequences also. I am so pleased we live remotely.

Our area is good not as good as it was a few weeks ago. It is bad where my twins live one Hastings area Bexhill, near where we lived in the UK , and one Tadworth area near to Epsom. Son is still off work with long Covid19 although he says he is ok the Dr. has signed him off again for a further 2 weeks. We check the stats quite often and can see our curfew is completely needed.

Daughter works for a well known supermarket express.

like so many others has suffered with stress and depression through covid. has
type1 diabetes, fibromyalgia,, has suffered and had surgery for four hernias , consultant said DONT get another it will be serious as there is nothing there,, just space.

An eye condition due to her last eye test for her diabetes a week ago.(Friday) they put several different drops for certain reasons trying to find why she was getting head aches ,(was it her condition or did she need an opticians appointment??)
Saturday she asked the pharmacists advice she wasn't unduly concerned.
Monday pains at back of her eyes along with swelling and blood shot eyes. A visit to the hospital ...... they thought a combination of things ,sitting at a computer, and wearing a mask at the same time
.So now it's four eye drops 3x a day. Bathing eyes said she would need some time off work.
as these drops he was prescribing would keep her eyes blurry for a couple of hours afterwards.

Her boss says you don't need to wear a mask and your working in the safest place.
Yet he himself had Covid in March and Two others have tested positive over the weekend both with serious underlying health conditions. All three of them(includes my daughter) were shielding at last lockdown.they would be shielding again if goal posts hadn't been moved the other staff who shielded last time are off work with stress .
But through all this ,Boss knows best.

Purple Streaks.. Thank you for sharing this matter with us. Sadly this covid pandemic has raised so many other problems. I feel that I somehow know you and your family.

This really is a very traumatic period for you all. I am inclined to consider your daughter is to say the least a very vulnerble person. In the past. You have confided in us, that your graddaughter is a victim of, Thalismer. This being a serious blood disorder. The red blood cells are so much smaller than normal. Thus their oxygen carrying capacity is that much reduced. As this covid virus attacks the respiritory system. Your granddaughter, imo is in the most vulnarable catagory. Now in a kind of way, back tracking. Your daughter and perhaps her husband, may be victims of type one diabetes. This medical condition calls for regular injections of insulin. Now such dependants are really at high risk with this covid virus. In all honesty. Rich or poor, wiseman idiot. We are all seeking a way out of this pandemic. Our medics are doing their best. Be guided by them, and basically. Store manager. Get stuffed. Purple Steaks, I wish you and yours all the very best.xx

Hello Jenny and thank you so much for asking.

I come on every day. First thing for the weather and then I may pop on again later in the day. If I have something pertaining to the garden I will show and tell. :heehee:

I may have nearly 20,000 posts but I have been a member for nearly 15 years and that equates to less than 4 posts per day. I am not a chatterbox in general  although I can be verbose in e-mails and am a fairly private person.

Yes, Portugal is under siege in the cities and congested areas but down South we have lots of open spaces with a population of 90 people per square kilometer. *

                        Victoria xx

                        * Edit to say the nearest town to me (7kms) has a population density of 40 sq/km and I am more remote than that living in the orange orchards,

During the first lockdown last year in April/May time I recall being very critical of our local GP surgery about how difficult it was to make appointments and get repeat prescriptions. There was practically no way to make contact apart from paying a visit to pop a letter through their postbox. Other members had similar experiences.

In this last week both me and Mrs JWK have need of medical help and have nothing but praise for the changes now in place.

For starters the website has new forms to allow us to input our symptoms. I did so on Friday for a problem with my fingers, within a few hours I had a message saying they will contact me as soon as possible. A physio called me on Monday and talked through the problem, I was then referred immediately to hospital to see a specialist. My appointment for that is today. In normal times that would have taken weeks.

Mrs JWK has a similar experience, she had to go into the surgery to find it was extremely well organised and efficient. She has a hospital appointment very soon too.

So I believe that GPs have embraced new technology to improve their services.

It also seems that most people are shunning their GPs with non-urgent issues, as we were the only car in the surgery car park, normally it is packed.
