Could that be down to the fact that this lock down is not anything like the last lockdown.
More people moving around and working than last time, much more contact between people.

Last time the old and vulnerable we shielding, now most are vaccinated but still being careful.

I still give the supermarket trolley a good spray down and wipe over before use. Then use hand sanitiser. Our supermarket (nearest town) provides two large cleaning stations at the entrance. One outside by the trolleys and one inside the entrance doors. Everyone I see going in (not many at the time I go) seems to use it.

Locally, everyone wears a mask - or maybe it's only when they see me coming along. :heehee:

When the snow was around, and just after new fall, I went to Morrisons and they had thrown grit and salt down to stop it becoming slippery, the result was lots of brown slush.

As I was walking into the store there was the trolley man sweeping the slush away and bashing his slush laden broom out on the trolleys parked at the entrance.:roflol:

I had to say something to him, but he seemed in a right old strop about something or other.

There doesn't seem to be much in the media about the impact of Covid19 on the education of young people - more specifically the dichotomy between those who are home schooling and those who are still attending school.

Those who are still attending school, for example because their parents are key workers, will have advanced far further in their education than those who are home schooling. No matter how well intentioned, parents cannot possibly match the support provided by a professional teacher.

The situation is just going to get worse - as it looks like the Spring and Summer school holidays will carry on as normal - a large chunk of this year will be lost to those home schooling.

I wonder if Boris will consider opening schools during the holidays so that pupils can catch up. He was happy to close schools during term time and these are exceptional times after all.

I dont think it would be down to Boris, I cant actually see the teachers standing for it and then that would involve the teaching unions, sounds like a minefield.

I think the biggest education rip off is what they are doing to university students, paying massive fees and only getting online teaching and then there is the scandal of them paying for accommodation they cant use.

Good news on numbers coming down. Not such good news my long-time friends in Buckingham caught it. She is in Finances at a school and caught it last month then passed it to her hubby. After five weeks they are just getting over it. Her mother caught it in a Nursing Home and fortunately recovered. Her mother then had first vaccine and reacted to it but now okay.

:yikes: Just read a Nursing Home in Evora, Alentejo, 12 patients have tested positive 17 days after their second jab!

                      Keep safe folk.

Saw this and was quite surprised to see that Saudi have ordered so few jabs considering their wealth.

Covid-19: UK should send vaccines to poorer nations now - WTO chief

Boris needs to take action sooner rather than later. There's no point in jabbing the whole of the UK population whilst in another country the virus is mutating and making the jabs less effective. We'll be back in lock down again.

Top tip for Boris - jab those who are at high risk in the UK and send the surplus for other countries to administer to their population who are high risk.

I dont think we have any "spare" vaccine at the moment, and I'm not really sure when we will, I dont really see the thinking behind it at the moment, until we have the correct percentage of the population immunized and we have vaccine that we cant use, then we will have "spare" vaccine.

My local doctors surgery say they are struggling to get the stuff.

I agree with you, pete. The Media and other groups are getting ahead of the realistic situation but I guess are trying to make sure the poorer Countries are not forgotten in the coming year.
Macron has been playing the political Banjo saying how the EU and other countries should start giving out the vaccines to those poorer countries when France, Germany and the rest of the EU still haven't got the manufacturing production to any proper level yet and he knows full well that he'd be out of office knowing any attempt to give away vaccines right now is something that is not practical, but I guess he wants to be "Man of the Moment" right now in the EU.:dunno:
