If it's a large centre I would guess they will have both in stock.

That EMA press conference today - another blow for the EU vaccine roll out. I see that the Valneva trials are going well - it's proving effective.

I will ask before I get jabbed. If it's not the AZ one then I'll walkout and storm around to my surgery.

Current UK policy is same vaccine for both jabs - although the EU are considering mixing jabs.

The centres keep back stocks or know when batches are arriving for the 2nd jab - with AZ it's easy as you just need a normal fridge.

My 2nd jab is at the same time and exactly 8 weeks later - so they know that they will have sufficient AZ jabs for the number of arms. My Mum was the same - AZ first jab and then at the appointed time AZ 2nd jab. They are not allowed to mix jabs.

I had my first jab in a different town to where I booked my second one in 12 weeks.
I booked both jabs at the same time, but no guarantee what the second place will be using on that day, how could there be, in three months from the first.

I would guess that there is some sort of whizz bang IT system that allocates slots according to the available vaccine - so if an AZ jab is going to be available then you can book the slot and take up that particular jab. This would explain why some people are complaining that they have to travel to get their jab - it's the closest available centre with the jab they need.

Panic not  - the vaccination centres are not allowed to mix vaccines - not yet at least...

Well they wont be mixing it with me, that's for sure, if they want to experiment on me I want to be paid the going rate.
But I dont think there is any real connection between places or jabs, I think you just have to rebook should it be different from the first dose.
I get the impression most people have had the AZ????
Not come across anyone who has had the Pfizer one????

And looks like they will be saving all the doses of other stuff for the young uns, so looks like AZ it will be anyway.

I had the Astra jab and only thing I seemed to suffer was a complete loss of use of my upper arms for about 10 seconds on a fe occasion, all ll now look towards my second jab next month

The usual signs are bruising easily or difficulty in stopping bleeding because the platelet count is low. Quite often because of disruption to the immune system. Unless you have a chronic condition it is easily treated with a short term series of steroids.

They still don't know whether the extremely low cases of blood clots has anything to do with the vaccination but are investigating. They don't know whether the current cases are still just the normal numbers or not as they are such a small proportion of the vaccinated population for them not to be able to draw conclusive inferences.

The normal incidence of blood clots in pregnant women and in those on contraceptives is much higher than the figures that have shown up in vaccinated people. Even then the incidence, compared to the population, is miniscule.

If you take any medicines, even those such as aspirin and paracetamol, don't read the leaflets that are in the box! :nonofinger: :hate-shocked:

I think they are going to add the symptoms to the paper work they give you when you get the jab.
So you can recognise it and get treatment.
Not sure the low platelets kill you it's the blood clots.
I always thought platelets helped clotting so I was surprised it's low platelets combined with clots.

I come across clots most days, but thankfully on the roads
