Much the same here, Lori. The powers-that-be seem to totally disregard the manufacturers recommendations for optimum intervals. Would that be anything to do with lack of supply? :whistle:OH finally got appointments for 29th April and 5th June, despite theoretically being old and high-risk and eligible since March! Macron announced vaccines available for all over-55's from last week....what a joke!

With more studies around the side effects of the various vaccines being published, an interesting piece of information has come to light. A brainiac was going through the data when he came across this:

Risk of PVT (liver blood clots)

AZ - 1.6 cases per million doses
      Pfizer/Moderna - 44 cases per million doses

He was curious as to why the additional Pfizer/Moderna risks appear to have been ignored and are not being reported in the media.

I would guess the reasons are:

      - Pfizer and Moderna are making a tidy profit thank you very much
      - Brexit

It's looking like the EU have again shot themselves in the foot by delaying or stopping AZ and if you assume the J&J vaccine has similar side effects - then they are making the situation worse.

The EU are a shining example to others - of how not to deal with a vaccine roll out.

How blooming brilliant! I can now book the jab as over 45s are now on the list here. My nearest place is in Durham, one bus and one train trip away. :wallbanging:

Apparently the medical centre just across the road from me where my neighbours had theirs is fully booked. Ditto Boots and Asda that also give the vaccinations.

Somehow I don't feel like half a day's travelling in public transport just now... I'll wait.

The good news is that we are participating in the ONS antibody study and will give small blood samples first weekly and then monthly (for £25 each visit  )That should be very interesting especially after I finally get my jab, great to see how the antibodies start forming. I like being a guinea pig!

Just seen this is the India Telegraph - it's from February:

Pfizer has withdrawn its application for the emergency introduction of its Covid-19 vaccine in India, the US company said on Friday, a day after India’s regulatory panel rejected its application.

The subject expert committee (SEC) of India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), after meeting with company representatives on Thursday, decided not to recommend the vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer and Germany’s BioNTech.

Senior health officials guiding India’s vaccination strategy had since mid-December indicated that the Pfizer-BioNTech product was not a viable option for India, given the ultra-low temperatures (around minus 70 degrees Celsius) required to maintain its supply chain.

Quite a few of the alternative vaccines only require a fridge - nice planning Pfizer. God bless AZ.

The increase in cases in India is worrying - especially given that there is a double mutation of the virus which has now landed on UK shores.

Isn't it bizarre that the Indian Serum Institute are producing millions of vaccines and sending them abroad - when they are struggling themselves?

Pfizer are also shutting down two factories in India - here's an idea - use them to produce AZ vaccine.

Those Oxford brainiacs are not stopping at a Covid-19 vaccine - this is why we need to continue investing in scientific research:

A malaria vaccine has proved to be 77% effective in early trials and could be a major breakthrough against the disease, say its developers from the University of Oxford.

Malaria kills more than 400,000 people a year, mostly children in sub-Saharan Africa.

That's every year, and has been for yonks, but nobody keeps ramming the death toll down our throats like they do with covid.
Add up all the deaths in the world from other diseases and I bet they come out higher than covid.

They actually said the other day that in the UK, now, more people are dying of other things rather than covid.

Having said that, things look pretty grim in India.
