Surely if testing and quarantine is applied and enforced, some exceptional cases could be allowed to return? I do see both sides of the problem, though. I doubt France would be going through it's current 2nd? 3rd? wave if international travel had been stopped quickly and thoroughly enough.
But a lot of governments are juggling safety measures with trying to keep their economies afloat.

Do any of you agree about not having to wear face masks and no social distancing after I think the 21st of June? I think that it's too soon, not all of us will be vaccinated at that time.

Very concerning indeed.....we need to be on our guard still , most definitely.

Definitely disagree on this ,couldn't believe my ears when I heard this yesterday!!:yikes:

Whatever, I'll still be wearing mine come this time next year!!

I think until all the over 18's are vaccinated they shouldn't even contemplate such a move.

On a more personal level , with our brood living and working in London it's definitely a concern. Our youngest it's back at work as he needs the studio environment so had no option , the thought of crowded underground trains and buses at rush hour makes me shudder:yikes:

I'm fed up messing around with masks, and so called social distancing, even the phrase which is over used is grating on me every time I hear it.

Lest face it we had a riot at a foolball ground a few days ago, I dont think anyone was social distancing there.
Its reached the point by now that people should be responsible for themselves.

We have the ability to not go anywhere you don't want to, so lets have the ability to go where we want to go as well.

Like most things these days its got super safe.
Who is going to say when it is safe.

The only restriction I would like to see continue is the ban on foreign travel, because we dont want to import resistant strains.

Why should others who have to go about their daily lives without yet being offered the vaccination be placed at risk because of people not wanting the hassle of messing around with masks?????

Have to say in our area they are worn without question and social distancing is respected, people even move out of the path of others to ensure close contact is avoided.

Small price to pay to respect and demonstrate care towards others imo.:dbgrtmb:

Just had a re - read..... ' responsible for themselves ' @pete ?????? Did you read @Jiffy 's post above yours?

Shopping is a part of daily life and yet Jiffy had his personal space invaded......where are his rights then?

People go to football for their own pleasure knowing full well that there will be a lot of people around them......but it's not a necessity, like grocery shopping, travelling to and from work or other equally important trips required to maintain a basic lifestyle.

On a personal level how can my son pay his mortgage, food etc and stay safe on any peak time London public transport.... have you travelled the rush hour??......sardines in a can springs to mind.

In my mind i don't think that mask's have help with the stoping the spread, why, most people have been wearing them for 8-12 months but we still had a spike just after christmas, where it spreads is close contact, basic hygine etc will help to stop the spread, as for stopping people traveling to other country i think it should only be for emergency only and you would by law have to isolate

A for instance, my sister came over at the weekend one afternoon.
First time since august, we sat in the garden, it was cold, it wasn't actually worth her coming over.

I said, lets go indoors, no she said, we are not allowed.

What has this country come to where she is not allowed to come into my house, who has the right to brain wash her into that kind of thinking.
A lot of people are having mental health problems and I can see why, and its all government imposed.

We have the right, or should have, to take our own risks, if coming into my house can be considered a risk, that is.

Over there, across the Atlantic, are they talking about mixing the vaccines - one type for first, another for second?

There's some talk of that here and it worries me a little!

Yes. It already happens with other vaccines apparently. The thinking here is that if we need a booster shot in the future - we don't have to rely upon a particular manufacturer and we can get more doses. The boost vaccine may also need to be altered for any new variants. The AZ and Pfizer vaccines work differently and it is thought that a jab from both may result is a stronger immune response.

Interesting factoid - covid anti-bodies are still present 8 months after a jab - the good news is that they may last longer - we only have 8 months worth of data so far.

As our man Witty said the other day - Covid-19 will end up like the flu - annual jabs which are tailored to meet the then current variant.

No we don't mix, we have the same for first and second jabs. Last week someone was accidentally given a different one and it made the main news, I couldn't actually work out why it was a bad thing, perhaps they haven't trialled mixed doses.
