Previously I would have wondered if that was because all the others in critical care had died, but there's been amazing improvements :blue thumb:

Checking with 'Covid Dashboard' there's only 12 patients/day being admitted to hospital in Wales, and following the vaccination programme, many of those cases should be easier to treat.

My English county has had only 1 death in the last week.

And Mrs Scrungee got her over 50's second jab this morning.

Things are improving fast, but the vaccination centre staff this morning recconed that we'd all be back forb
    boosters in September.

I'm not joking now. Someone I know does not believe that Covid-19 is real - he thinks it's been made up by the Government and he and his partner have refused to have a jab.

Well, this is the UK, you are free to make your own mind up - no matter how bizarre the decision - when it comes to your own body and medical matters. In the end, the only people he will hurt are those around him who similarly don't believe that Covid-19 is real.

When I am told something by a scientist - I tend to believe that what I am being told is correct. As they say, you can lead a horse to water....

@Upsydaisy it's not very far from where we live so no traffic for us, we were lucky that it is so near.
Our son lives in Worcester in the town and he has to go to Malvern for his first and Bromsgrove for his second. He hasn't got a car so he's going to have a taxi. It's going to cost him a lot I should imagine but he doesn't seem to mind, he just wants it all done.

The over 50s will have a booster in the autumn or sometime around then.

Somebody on the Isle of Man didn't think Covid existed either so took no precautions. He was admitted to intensive care with it a week and a half ago.

With lockdown now over here in Scotland all the shops are now open and traffic back to full strength on the roads. Oddly, during lockdown we never saw police either on foot or in vehicles. Today and last week when we were in Inverness they were flying (not literally) everywhere with blues and twos going. Were they in lockdown too?

Tesco was back to full shopping mode too and too busy for distancing. It's not surprising to see many people passing the sanitisers by now before they shop. Do they honestly think a Covid jab alone will keep them and others safe? They probably wouldn't be wearing masks either if they had the option.

Tourists are also back with motor homes and caravans, many travelling up from England.

I think we'll be back in lockdown before the school holidays are over this coming summer.

A friend called to the house last Sunday to replace tap washers,..his wife contacted the Virus on Tuesday,..he contacted the Virus on Thursday,..( yesterday ),..he phoned me to ask how was i feeling,..no problems just the usual aches and pains from gardening,..fingers crossed.

Social distancing, masks, hand washing and staying home. Flu spreads through very similar methods as the Corona virus. So what works for one works for the other.

Maybe it's because the flu has been around for a long time and that Corona virus is more deadly.

I didn't think flu was a Corona virus, I got the impression the common cold was actually a Corona virus.

But are we suggesting that tests are not that good at telling the difference between flu and Corona.

In comparison, reproduction numbers for seasonal flu are about 1.3, varying yearly. In the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, R was higher, at roughly 1.8. That explains why the distancing and other measures being taken, which can bring R for Sars-CoV-2 from 3 to below 1, are enough to almost eliminate seasonal flu.
