What is worse is that the date of 19th July is not even final - that could shift and they could delay again and again and again.... before long, we will be back in autumn, the snuffly noses will start and the whole charade will continue

We have a couple of things booked with more than 2 households that were a bit of a gamble. We might not cancel, instead go with fewer people. We haven't paid a deposit and can cancel closer to the time. I think a lot of people will be in the same position and will hang on for the time being.

All the holidays we had booked are cancelled except one. That was booked in France for last July. We wanted to cancel it before we had to pay the balance (the biggest chunk) but it was still due to go ahead. So, to avoid losing the deposit, we postponed it until July 2022. They wanted me to only postpone it until July 2021 but I was pretty sure that would be too soon. Seems to have been a good decision. I hope it won't still be off by then. :fingers crossed:

It is all in plain sight only not pointed out, you have to seek it.
Mar 2020 there is to be a four week lockdown, Then why were vehicle MOT'S, Mortgage interest payments suspended until OCT 2020, Why was Furlough brought in until Dec 2020

FFWD to today a further four weeks lockdown added, instead of June 21st it is now July 19th 2021,,So why is Furlough been paid through to October ? When everyone will of course be back at work on July 20th !

Renewal of my driving licence was extended by 11 months (it doesn't cost and just takes the filling in of an online form) and they obviously trust us to say that we are fit to drive :rolleyespink: :old:. Eleven months is a peculiar length of time . Why not a year?

We are slowly working towards the metric year, have you not heard.
In a couple of years from now we will only have 10 months in a year.
This is part of the transition process.;)

Getting my 2nd jab at 9.59 am tomorrow - 2 weeks after which I'll be in a much stronger position to fight off Covid-19.

                            As Professor Finn says:

The one bit of good news around this is that the rate of rise of hospitalisations is not as fast as the rate of the rise in cases. So we are preventing a lot of hospitalisations with the vaccine programme but not all of them.

If you've had two doses of Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccines you're more or less guaranteed not to end up in hospital. And even one dose, once immunity kicks in, will very substantially reduce the risk of ending up in hospital.

Come on BoJo - it's time to get back to some sort of normality.
