We are back in the 70's/80's in many ways where the only solution to the housing problem is to put people in boxes that go up into the sky. It has been done time and again, and has failed time and again, yet still this is the only solution that gets trotted out. People crammed in on top of each other, invariably with little or no money and at times no job to occupy them and even if they do have a job their options at a weekend are essentially the high street that their block of flats stands in, or a urine soaked park at the end of the street....... then the authorities wonder why the peasants go for drugs, fighting and stabbing.

There is a cultural element as well, but we are not allowed to mention that despite the statistics/data, because that is the world we live in now - everyone is offended on someone else's behalf, yet at the same time is happy to sit back and watch kids kill each other. I genuinely hate this world.

If you have had Covid or the Covid vaccine, then surely the test will come back positive
      asypmlomatic ?

I really do not know, but surely if you have the vaccine then it will show up as positive ?

Normal tests only show positive if you have the infection at that time, they dont show if you have had it.

You only come up positive, after infection or after vaccination, if you take an antibody test.

Same in a town near here. The town council, and their planning dept., don't get a say in the situation. :wallbanging:

Something like this went in effect here yesterday. You cannot go inside a restaurant/bar or a hotel without certification/negative test result but can be outside on the esplanades. They will be selling self-test kits in supermarkets.

Is this going to be the new apartheid ?
I prefer the previous one, where you have Sainsbury´s to keep the riff-raff out of Morrison´s.

Or pubs/restaurants will continue to battle, then close, which many believe is the ultimate aim of all of these controls. There is a significant cost attached to people socialising, not least those who overdo things and end up needing lifted off the pavement on a Saturday night. All of this at the same time as the government is passing a bill removing our legal right to protest.

Could be worse I suppose, we could be seeing the laws that Spain are trying to bring in where they can force anyone to do anything if they have declared a state of emergency (give up your home, move thousands of miles, go out with a gun and kill other people...whatever they like)

True. We take part in the ONS Covid testing and they test separately for virus with throat swabs and antibodies with blood samples. Apparently our recent jabs will not necessarily show in the antibody results, only a past infection would. Most disappointing, I was looking forward to see my anties grow.

Anyways, I'm getting a bit angry with the situation. The infections are roaring and whilst thankfully the number of hospitalisations and deaths remain low, people are getting ill. Very ill. Four families I know are now all very poorly, and the disease is a long one. Two weeks in bed is no laughing matter.

Probably it's cheaper for the state to let people get ill whilst the companies pay sick leave salary than keeping everyone well in their bubbles on a state paid furlough money.

Moan over, it is what it is. We'll be fine.

I have been a member on a Thai/UK forum since 2003 and we have been saying this about the UK for years. I know members who love going to Thailand but they wouldn't live there as they see it as an authoritarian or democratic dictatorship country. While other members agree to a point, they point out that the UK is not so democratic as you think it is.

I think the government find the so called "nightime economy " a nice little earner, so I cant think they actually want to shut that down.

As for stopping the right to protest, this has been brought about by idiots, mostly the climate change bunch, stopping people working and actually stopping ordinary people going about their business for weeks.
People should be able to protest but when it stops other peoples liberties a line has to be drawn.
