Corona Virus Treatment

The UK has always had a shortage of HGV drivers, even more so now. This is either the fourth or fifth time that HGV drivers have had their driving hours extended. The law is, your only allowed to drive 90 hours in a 2 week period, now they are allowed to drive 99 hours per 2 week period with shortened rest periods. Some of them have just had enough and called it a day, I don't blame them, I would.

 

Had our second vaccines. We thought they were closed as NO queue. Our papers waiting, basically in and out, except for 15 minutes for seven in front of us and 30 minute after wait with doctor on duty. Neither have had any symptoms so far.

I often wonder what jobs people just walk into when they give up the old job.
A 50hr week is probably pretty frustrating for lorry drives as half that will be spent sitting in traffic jams.

We now have half the health service workers threatening to do something else unless they get a 12% rise.

Maybe they could all swap places.

 

Sorry FC I don't agree. Just because masks aren't of the medical kind doesn't mean they are useless. There are plenty of people out there wearing similar masks to my own. Yes they are cloth but have three layers with the option of a graded filter to slip inside one of those layers. The filters are of different grades and can be bought from a number of places. My masks are washed by hand after every use.

I think the so called medical type masks that are available to buy are useless. They don't hug the face so what ever is in the air can enter either from top, bottom or the sides. The elastic is also too long which means they flap about or slide down your face.

I wear glasses. The way to stop them steaming up is to where a mask high underneath the eyes and sit the base of the glasses just over the mask. Not that comfortable I agree, but it works. I remove my glasses when walking up or downstairs, they are bifocals and the dividing line on the lenses stops me from being able to see where the next step is.

 

After effects of vaccine, T'other Half not so well with it, Pfizer, painful arm, took Paracetamol. Up in night with chills, sweats, nausea, better this morning but arm very sore. I just have slightly sore arm, felt a bit queasy in the night.

Most people were still wearing masks when I went shopping just now.
I think it will carry on in shops and stores for some time to come

Yes, they do make breathing difficult and I agree, many of the masks seen on other people are really not worth bothering with.

Probably because many of those people we see in shops with masks don't bother taking any precautions elsewhere.

From another point of view, influenza numbers were very low last winter. Surely that's due to masking?

My fifteen year old grandson currently has Covid but hasn't suffered too badly, he is over the worst and feeling a lot better. He has to isolate for up to 21 days, with further tests to check when he can be released from that. Right at the start of the school summer holidays - he's not amused!

 

My second shot will be Pfizer. Moderna was the first and I only had a sore arm. I guess someone jamming a needle deep into muscle would have that effect even if it was saline solution!

Hopefully I'll have milder side effects

 

@CanadianLori my daughter in BC had her second jab earlier this week. Both first and second were Moderna and she was unwell with both. Do you know why your second one will be Pfizer?
