Thought that might be the case so decided to have a go last night. Didn't set an alarm/alert, but I normally good at waking up without one, and awoke at 12:05, logged in to be put in a queue, and within several minutes put straight through to book a slot, no deliveries but got a C&C on 19th April.

Heard a rumour today that all delivery slots from 20th will be reserved for the 'vulnerable' only, so might have got the last one. Our daughter has shared her delivery tomorrow with us, and we've shared all the reduced dented tins, reduced end of lines, etc. we have with her.

Think it might get a bit difficult in a few weeks, started sowing some of the mustard & cress seeds we got for pennies from Wilko end of year and free from Wyevale.

Expecting movements to become more resticted, so bringing everything back from the the plot.

Putting extra seeds in at home as some people might find some tomato/lettuce/etc. plants usefull, and I've got 300 garlic in pots waiting for my soil to dry out that I can't get in at home.

I still can't understand why people are waiting for delivery slots and queueing up in supermarkets. Why not use smaller stores like Iceland ( ours even had about 6 shelves of toilet rolls this morning ) etc and go and get your own shopping.
I for one will be thankful when they restrict delivery slots to the elderly and vulnerable and people who can't drive.

Our local stores are doing a roaring trade! Butchers are complaining like mad that they're so tired from working so hard, same with greengrocers. Little independent newsagents etc are being panned as they're selling supermarket branded stuff at silly prices. Everyone offering deliveries and my local pub is doing deliveries from his kitchen, plus veg boxes from the the greengrocer and requiring a delivery fee - your choice but he is matching it and donating to local charity!
Our supermarket has got a handle on it now and is well stocked with a queuing system in place, sometimes busy but not always.

I've been sowing lots of fast growing salad stuff these last two weeks, I've used up all my seed trays and pots. I just ordered a pack of 20 used seed trays from ebay to keep a steady flow of successional planting going.

Our village doesn't have an Iceland, it only has a small shop that could only cope with a max of 2 customers 2m apart, and 1 would have to depart for the 2nd to leave whilst maintaining 2m distance.

We also only have limited stores within walking distance, you can get frozen food, booze and sliced bread but cheese is a push and vegetables are practically non- existent.

My nearest supermarket is a bus trip away, but once my booked delivery slots are gone it's the only option.

Until the lettuce, carrot tops and summer crops are ready of course. There is already a flower in my alpine strawberry, I'm in for a treat!

Sorry perhaps I didn't explain myself clearly ....

I'm basically talking about people who have cars sitting on their drive and yet using up valuable delivery slots.
@Scrungee , you have often said you drive for miles looking for bargains, why can't you do your shopping at the same time ?
@Selleri , you are in a similar position to me except for I don't have a bus service and have to rely on taxis. You're the type of person who should be using delivery services.

I think its because most of them have had the living daylights scared out of them and are scared of making contact with other people.
I saw people this morning wearing masks and gloves, nobody even wanted to look at you let alone talk to you.
                    It was weird.

Sorry @pete , you don't think that people like me using 2 walking sticks , my 85 year old mom with her walking frame, other people like @Selleri who have to rely on public transport should be further up the queue than people who have just " had the living daylights scared out of them ".

Talking to friend today - important to keep in contact - especially with the lock down. Amazon Prime are now offering 4 week delivery instead of the usual next day. I was quite surprised, I would have thought that an on-line based company would have had more capacity to react to an increase in demand.

Another trip to ASDA today - a small queue - but managed to get some loo roll - hurrah :dbgrtmb:.

I've noticed this as well - in fact only the cashier was sociable in ASDA.
