          it is not light hearted or funny. Makes me feel sick to see folk talking like that re other folk . If that is counted "friendly" I am in the wrong forum. OK I am checking out. Bye all. So disappointing. Just has dragged me right down reading that and the replies.

            Oops I've done it now!!

            @Islander77, we really can't live in gloom all the time, it's not mentally or emotionally good for anyone. Please don't leave and try to stay positive and ,hard as it may be for all of us, try and look on the bright side, it can always be found lurking in the darkest corners!:spinning:
            Take care and keep safe.:grphg:

              Without you watching the linked video and just reading the quotes that Upsy mentioned then you can't really know the context of it. That's why a link was posted - so you are not forced to watch anything you don't want to.
              We all need a bit of humour, like Upsy says, it's very good for our mental health. Nothing anyone has said or has posted has been a personal attack on you. We are all a friendly bunch.

              Hope this message is taken in the positive spirit it was intended to be and I wish you well. Take care.

                It is. Government needs to stop sending mixed messages - I'm talking here about Govers.

                On our allotment - we've cancelled the open air plot inspections - but still allow people to go to their plots. It's either open or closed IMHO.

                In any case, I wouldn't have gone to the plot inspections - my Mum relies upon me for food/prescriptions etc - I can't be out of action.

                You know, now is the most critical time we have to act. Slow down infections before it gets out of control. We need clarity now.

                  How much clarity do you need, clanless??:doh::dunno: This Government has been as clear as it can be with an ever changing situation where all countries are catching up to try to control the Virus. This whole problem is like working in a Fog for the Government and all of us. Some people aren't even keeping to the advised rules either because they don't care or have actually comprehended just how serious the situation is:wallbanging:
                  There is no Manual to read and understand on dealing with Covid 19 so that we all have "clarity":doh:. The only thing clear, as far as I am concerned, is that we all keep to the rules issued by the Government, that we all behave as sensible, compassionate, intelligent, human beings which, so far, regarding panic buying, the inability of people to understand that gathering together, holding Barbecues, coming into close contact, in parks, National Trust areas, Beaches, etc, we as Human Beings ain't been doing a good job.:dunno::wallbanging:
                  Clarity???:scratch:...........You can buy a Crystal Ball on Amazon and e-Bay, although there's no clarity on how well they work.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

                    Don't go @Islander77 , I too was hesitant on clicking on that link and being a grumpy old man I hate anything to do with social media. However I trust @Snorky85 so gave it a try, it is very funny satire to me, I know we all have different sense of humour but it's only tongue in cheek so please ignore it.

                      Good points @ARMANDII - I agree there cannot be a definitive set of rules for each and every situation multiplied by all the various personal issues we have as individuals. We just have to use our own judgement, what you are doing right now on your allotment @clanless is correct for you at this moment in time and that's all that matters.

                      If there comes a point where we get fully locked down and confined to our homes it would be bad for me not getting to my allotment, but hey it's not such a big deal in the overall scheme of things. If that helps save lives then it must be done.

                      Personally I don't think lockdown will get tightened, the govt needs to keep non-essential businesses ticking over as much as possible so when we come out the other side there will be some semblance of an economy. Also people will be going stir-crazy locked up for a long time, we all need exercise and fresh air.

                          and on a lighter note..

                          old joke

                          A rural man writes to Eaton's department store, "Please send me 10 rolls of toilet paper"

                          Eaton's responds, "Please quote the catalogue number when ordering".

                          Man responds, "If I had the catalogue, I wouldn't need the toilet paper".

                          It is a bit of fun but also kinda shows the frustration felt by some! :rolleyespink:

                          But no matter what, I'll stay at home as much as possible but I refuse to throw a pity party!!!! :paladin:

                            Clarity means - giving out a consistent message. So for example, at the moment Govers tells me I can drive down to the allotment. But I'm supposed to stay at home and only go out if it is essential to do so. If I'm stopped by the old bill driving down the A55 on the way to the allotment - the old bill will smack my wrist for non-essential travel.

                            Me - but Officer - Mr Gove said it was OK for me to drive down to the allotment;

                            Bill - your'e driving 20 miles to do a bit of weeding Sir?;

                            Me - yes, but what's that got to do with it, Mr Gove said on tele that I can drive there - he didn't say it had to be less than 20 miles away or my reason for visiting the allotment;

                            Bill - don't be silly Sir, weeding is not an essential activity and you should be staying at home to stop the virus from spreading;

                            Me - it's essential to my mental health to get out and about. My bedding plants need watering as well;

                            Bill - :nonofinger: - (reaches for baton);

                            Me - well what should I be doing then, please clarify (scuffle as Me is dragged from car and hand cuffed)

                            Nee naw - blues and twos...

                              Just roll your trouser leg half way up and ask "How old is your grandmother" and all will be well, unless they cart you off to the asylum first.
