Which is what I have been saying, FC, it is not a medically or scientifically accepted fact that if a person contracts Covid 19 they will be immune to it afterwards!! The word "likely" is not something I could put my trust in and I'm pretty sure those deciding on the political decision would do the same and tell people it's okay to go outside because they won't catch the Virus again. If when standing in front of someone aiming a gun at me, and being told "it's likely that I'll miss or just wound you" would not give me confidence or being told by a Car Salesman that the car I'm buying is not likely to break down within weeks of me buying would again make me hesitate.

We do have a lot of companies and a lot of skill that could help, but don't forget that we are talking about a huge lumbering machine that for decades has only ever used suppliers who have managed to get through reams of technical and legal specifications, despite those suppliers likely being the least likely to be able to respond in a crisis whilst also charging the absolute top dollar. I have seen the NHS machine working in this very way myself, many years ago admittedly, but I can be sure that things won't have changed all that much over the years.

Around 25 or more years ago, the company I worked for got a huge order from the NHS for IBM PS1 PCs; we happily delivered these and put them in a room (looked like a sort of board room), stacked up as tidily as we could. Almost exactly a year later, we got another large order from the same health board - a load of IBM PS2 PCs - we delivered them to the same building, the same room, and stacked them right in front of the boxes we had delivered the year prior. The NHS is not used to switching supplier at the drop of a hat, and in most cases that is a good thing as they need to be assured that they are getting the same stuff again and again.

The current situation is extreme, so it is taking them time to adapt (and to be fair they are doing surprisingly well, as there are rucksack and clothing makers making maske and JCB making ventilators) but we need to cut them a bit of slack, as this is all new. In fairness, if I told you that I was going to supply you with a mask made by someone who normally makes bin bags and hadn't had time to check them out thoroughly, would you be happy wearing it in a medical scenario?

I give up, I really do.

If you cannot trust the National Medical Director for England, then we may as well pack it all in now and get back to normal. Likely is all that they have - this is not a court of law situation where it is either one thing or another, guilty or not guilty and all based around semantics. This is the real world where when a Professor of medicine says something is likely, then it is as near as could ever be reasonably said to be true/firm/happening. You will not get a definite from him, ever.

FC you cannot define "likely" to mean definitely which is how it seems that you want it to be:wallbanging:. It's simple some people will naturally develop an immune system but it is "likely" that the majority will not. Gove is saying right now on the TV that we must not over interpret what is being said about Covid 19. I, as you know, work in facts and the word "likely" is not something I can accept as being classed along with the word "certainty" especially as the Politicians and Medical Authorities have been apologising and changing the information they have been giving out in the last few day.

Anyway, more importantly than about us squabbling over whether or not "likely" gives you confidence that you won't contract Covid 19 again after having it in the first place..........is the really tragic news reported by the BBC just now is that a 13 year child has succumbed to this awful virus. My heart goes out to their family and the Nursing Staff who must have given their all to try to save the child.

I'll make this easy - you are right - there, all sorted.

Yes, it is also a shame that a child has died.

I put my pen down in resignation.

It appears that it is a 13 year Boy with no underlying health conditions who lived Brixton is the person who died. This virus knows no bounds.

Okay, this is giving me my first headache in 25 years. MERCY!!!!

I have zero symptoms and have just read that cannibinoids help strengthen the immune system.

That works for me. "Special" Christmas cake for supper as a supplement and It will take care of the headache too!
