Well this may be of interest. I recently purchased a Hosta which I had on my Patio.
After about 4 day the leaves were being eaten away. I was not happy it cost me £10.00
What could I do to stop it. Well I have a Eucalyptus tree in my garden and at this time of year it sheds it bark. I collect the bark, crush it up and put it on my daughters drive way. it makes a nice smell as the car drives over it. I put some around the Hosta. It is now 3 weeks gone by and not a single nibbled leaf and several new leaves have appeared.
Have I found the answer to the slug problem ???
Am I about to become a millionaire selling crushed Eucalyptus bark

Do not keep me in suspense Sussexgardener. What happened to Hugh did he actually eat the slugs. Read a couple of years ago a drunk rugby player was egged on by team mates to eat one. He did and sadly died in hospital.
