Okay, now you you are being a toad.

My religion is morals, ethics and fairness.

somehow so called religions miss these basic rules for getting on in this world without hurting others

It is not what people say, it is what they do that declares their beliefs/tenets for living.

I'm confused. You've had a go at me about religion, while quoting my comment that has nothing to do with religion. My comment was a reference to the observation thatshootings seem to be common in the US. Is this not the case?

I can't find where I said anything against your religion. The only place I mention Muslim says "Not just Muslims but other ..." and trying to make a point that some behaviours such as segregating their spouses from the community, are not exclusive to Muslims.

You have essentially accused me of being an Islamophobe. Even though I said nothing against the Muslim religion. This is a tactic commonly used to subjugate others.

There have been numerous studies done here regarding so called "Islamophobia" and it has been largely agreed that using this label to identify non Muslims has been widely encouraged in order to force people to be totally accepting of these other beliefs and on numerous occasions to tolerate uncivil behaviour just to avoid being labelled an Islamophobe.

We have had many cases of public displays such as "Merry Christmas" being removed because it was loudly decreed to be insulting by the local Muslim populations.

Then our tolerance and accommodation is sneered at as weakness. It is sad.

Right, in the interests of peace, I'm ducking out of this highly contentious thread.

Before I do though I'd like to point out a few things.

I have not insulted anyone. While I've attempted to defend innocent Muslims who have been branded by some here as something very negative, I am not, as some seem to have concluded, of any specific faith myself other than the faith of humanity and mutual respect and compassion.

If a bunch of average folk on a gardening forum can't even have a discussion without insulting each other and passing judgement on those they've never met, what chance is there of ever finding peace in the world?

Sadly I believe none is the answer when it comes to such contentious non-gardening issues such as this.

It can be very difficult when discussing *any* subject on a forum (contentious or otherwise!) and easy to get wires crossed for a variety of reasons. We use more than words to communicate face-to-face: tone of voice, eyes, body language, nuances which simple cannot be derived from written words. Let's face it, we even use clothing as a form of communication.

And then of course there is the use of punctuation, paragraphing etc which can make something come across in a way not intended. What a person is feeling underneath when they read something can make a huge difference to how they interpret another's writings.

I *think* I can see where some wires have become crossed and I don't believe anyone intended any offence to another forum member. That is my observation anyway.

I cant think anyone has been insulted.
Often its down to misinterpretation of someones post.
It can get heated, all is well that ends well, most threads do peter out eventually, but the ones that do that, after half a dozen posts, are usually the ones where everyone agrees.

The whole point is we all have different points of view, without that, we might as well just all agree, and watch the tv instead.

I was going to click the "Agree" icon on your post ... but, I didn't fancy having to go and watch TV so I've gone with "Like" instead :pathd:
