Could this latest move by Denmark only add to migrants travelling to the UK?

Well what is going on now could easily break up the EU anyway, or at least how its been running up to now.
The EU is in chaos, doesn't have a clue what to do about the problem and countries are starting to act alone.

Lets bring back proper border controls throughout the EU, and that should apply to EU citizens as well.
You could still live and work in other countries, just not wander around quite so easily as people do now.

As far as the Danish decision making a difference to the numbers coming to the UK I doubt it will have much of an impact. The majority of these people have left most of their belongings behind.

The vast majority of these people are not economic migrants - they are in genuine fear of their lives. One of the main reasons that so many head towards the UK and the Nordic countries is that English is their second language even if it is limited. Trust me, they are not heading here for the warm and hearty welcome or to live life in the fast lane on benefits. Professional people do not enrich their lives pushing mops around for a living. If you ever get the chance to spend time talking to one of these refugees take it.

The pictures of the men at the docks are not representative of the vast majority of people "living" in the ghettos that are called refugee camps or reception centres. The menfolk do not leave their families behind, just their entire lives and almost all their worldly goods.

The majority of unaccompanied children come from East Africa where their families have begged, stolen or borrowed just enough money to get their children safely away from these homicidal "religious" nutters. A considerable number of these parents have been slaughtered once the likes of Boko Haram have reached their villages.

There is no doubt at all that the European countries, and the UK in particular, cannot take everyone but that is no reason for us to abandon all sense of humanity. The world in general has to shoulder this responsibility and it is up to Europe to put on a united front and put pressure on nations all around the world to do their bit. It is time for world leaders to quit the political posturing and agree on a proper a realistic plan.

There are large numbers of people (and I'm not referring to you here in any way, shape or form) who are very vocal on the subject of "those bloody immigrants" yet have no idea as to the names of the PM, chancellor, foreign secretary etc. So whilst I agree that there are a large number of people who are unaware of the implications of EU laws these people are also unaware of many other things that have a far greater impact on their daily lives. What I find really perverse is that for a lot of such people it is the state that has paid for the 60 inch plasma TV that they sit in front of swilling down cheap booze whilst not watching any current affairs programs.

It is not about New York or America, it is about the gift of humanity. It is time that our leaders remembered this gift and that the people of the developed world supported them in working towards a realistic solution. This solution will involve military, political and logistical elements. It needs to be fair to all. None of this is beyond the wit of man.

 

In the UK (excluding Scotland) there's a law that allows the Authorities to seize homes and money from the elderly to pay for their care, but it doesn't appear to discourage them as they continue to grow in number.

I'm not sure if the latest move made by Denmark and similar to that of Switzerland would stand the test in the European Court of Human Rights? Governments can pass all they like but as in the past the ECHR has dismissed them when HRs are breached. I don't think any real change to the all but open door policy currently being operated by countries can be radically changed by governments. I think it is up to the general populations of each country to decide to flaunt the current HRs. I am open to being corrected on this as I am not a political animal at all....well wasn't and still wouldn't be but for the fact that Labour made complete you know what up north of The Border which allowed the SNP into power in Scotland. Our current beloved leader (Nicola B Sturgeon) has said that she'd be happy to give migrants shelter in Bute House (Scottish equivalent of 10 Downing Street). I must pop in 1 day and meet them all. With a very large Muslim presence already in Dundee (Dundee was 1 of only 2 regions to vote YES in the Referendum for Independence) I can see that distant cousins 10 times removed will be making their way there.
Re the concerns raised by others re health implications. I today received EVENTUALLY an appointment at a hospital in Dundee. With the appointment is a form to fill in asking my religion and ethnic background and religion, nothing else. This is the 1st such form I've ever been asked to fill in. There are 19 ethnic options not including not known! The form is required evidently as it is in line with the equality Act 2010. I have had to wait 15 weeks for this appointment, I expect the situation of the NHS in Scotland to only get worse in the future.

 

Or a YES vote by a marginal majority, but with a substantial amount of Conservative MPs voting NO, followed by 'the deal' not actually turning out to be as good as it was made out to be, bitter infighting/splits amongst the Conservatives, followed by them losing the next election?

 

Living in The US I do not know the situation there, only what is on the "news". What I do know about these "immigrants" is that they do not want to become Americanized. They do not assimilate. They keep their own customs, some of them barbaric, like the honor killing of their daughters. They do not believe in our legal system and want Sharia Law which is in direct conflict with our constitution. We the people are afraid. Our government wants to let them in by the hundreds of thousands. There is no way to know who these people are, no way to vet them. We see lines and lines of them on TV wanting to get somewhere. Mostly what we see are mainly young men of fighting age, the vast minority women and children. Hopefully, our government is going to change this year (probably) to one that will stop this onslaught. If not I can see us fighting them in the streets in 20 years.

 

Those asylum seekers complained of being made to feel “like second-class citizens”, the fact they are not actually citizens yet seems to have escaped them.

Hopefully it will be out with all of the old and in with the new. All of the career politicians are the one's who have gotten us into this mess to begin with. Plus perhaps we will even have an intelligent president for a change.

Donald is light years better than either Hillary or Bernie but I am a Cruz fan. He is the only one who has stood up against the establishment politicos and called them out on their lies and deceptions. To me Hillary is just another Obama and Bernie is an avowed socialist/communist who just yesterday vowed to raise taxes and make ObamaCare a single payer system, basically doing away with private insurance and private health care, putting government in charge of everything. I have seen enough of how well government works

 

A few thoughts on integration. This will not be a rapid process, it was never a rapid process. People like to live with people that they share a common language with, have a common religion with, common tastes in foods etc. This has always been the case going back to the Jews fleeing Eastern Europe at the end of the 19th century, the Irish coming to work on the canals and railways earlier in the same century. Before that the Huguenots fled from France and all lived in the same district, Spitalfields for example.
Even earlier it took centuries for the Normans, Saxons and Danes to integrate and form one nation, slightly different case as that was one of conquest.
I would expect integration will take at least three generations though modern technology, transport and communications may reduce that.
It was only 50 or so years ago that many people had never left the town they were born in except for the occasional trip to the seaside and the next town was considered to be a foreign place.
