:D :D You can discuss and admire my seat anytime Shiney!!! :D :D
I have the idea for the seating area, it's just putting it into practice!! I'm afraid I'm having to ask someone to help me do it, which is against every fibre of my being...but I'm not sure my expertise will stretch to such a big task. As it's on a slope, it has to be done right....no bodging on this one...I'd hate for it not to be level or subside or I might spill my beer!! :D :D

    It looks great!

Were you thinking of planting the hostas through the stones? Would the stones then make it hard for the slugs to get at the hostas at all?

For your seating area, I could really see a little wooden bench with some kind of trellis over, and honeysuckle and maybe a jasmine growing over the top, and night-scented stocks growing around too, and maybe some kind of candle lanterns... lol, probably not at all what you have in mind though!

Thanks Claire :D :D Yes the Hostas would have gone through the stones, but the jury's still out on that one as Cornish slugs are a breed apart and can scale high buildings and drive tractors!!!! :D :D
I've got the wooden bench for the seating area and my ideas aren't too different to yours apart from I'd very much like a little fridge for Stella, as it's a long walk up to the house for a refill!! [IMG] :D :D

LOL at the tractor-driving slugs - and thanks for answering the question! I can just imagine the slugs slithering over the stones going "oooh... owwww... oooh", and serve the blighters right! I have no sympathy for them since they ate every single one of the courgettes I grew the first year I tried growing veg.

Look forward to seeing a picture of the seating area too!

One of my greatest gardening pleasures is launching the swines off a trowel with as much venom as I can muster into the field behind my house!!! :D :D Accompanied by a cry of 'slugs in space' :D :D You can't eat my plants if you've exploded on impact!!!! :D :D :D

:D Have you read "50 ways to kill a slug"? I bought it for my mum for her birthday one year. I like the one that says "slugs don't like to get dry so run round the garden flapping your arms to create a breeze" - but I'm not sure it'd work...

Sorry, I've just realised I seem to have diverted your thread from admiring your handywork to slugs - very rude of me and admiring your handywork was so much nicer too!

My thread my diversion!!! :D :D I love a bit of 'thread drift'!! :D
Dunno about creating a breeze......if I ran about flapping my arms I'd probably cause most of Indonesia to be deluged in a tsunami!!!! :D :D As well as leaving some very nasty divets in my lawn!!! :D
It's funny how slugs can provoke such a vicious reaction in people....I quite like the idea of 50 ways to kill a slug....
    1. squish it
    2. slice it
    3. liquidize
    4. dice it!!!!
    5. Tie them up and dangle them tantalizingly in front of my Fritillarias......mmmm, probably quite tricky to tie up a slug but the idea of torturing them appeals.. :D

    That's OK then :D
What's a fritillaria and why would you want to dangle a slug in front of it?
(I am learning so many things I didn't know about slugs - just hope I won't get nightmares!)
