The bill in Scotland is inclusive of water and is comparable to our totals this side of the wall.

But it's worth knowing if considering buying up there or one could easily assume the tax is quite high without knowing it included water charges..

      While on water...

For those living south of the border.

If your surface water is taken to soak aways and not into the mains drainage you can apply for a rebate and a reduction on your water bill.

Your water company will be charging for this proportion of your bill irrespective of whether the surface water soaks away into the ground or goes into mains drains.

You can only get a rebate for one year. You may have been overcharged for 20 years but only 1 year will be refunded. But your bills in the future must be reduced..

Not sure if the above applies to Scotland or Wales but it should do.

In comparison it is three times as much as we're paying for rates here Charlie. Our all in rate system includes water and parish costs and we pay £800 a year, that is dependent on where we live on the island but that considered, it would still be cheaper than on the mainland. :)

Just another example of how we are ripped off here. Either that or how badly the money we pay is spent .
