Today we headed toward Spain to visit Tavira which sits at the mouth of the River Gil£o on the Atlantic.

I wasn't very impressed with the place on the whole but got a few nice shots of the architecture.

The open ampithreatre (with the sky over Spain) ...

The bandstand (with the sky over Portugal) ...

We parked in front of this nice building and the one lane cobbled street was lined with Cercis siliquastrum ...

I loved these houses on the river with the verandahs with steps to where boats might be moored. Shame about the state of the buildings ...

I'll sneak in my stork here on the tower ..

Eek, they even have these tourist trains here, but nicer looking ...

One of the local churches ...

And the park in the castle grounds (where they labelled the flora) ...

The next thread will be of the flowers and trees in the park.

    Tavira continued ...

Thank you, pete ... hope you like the flora as well.

Meant to say that blob in the middle of the ampitheatre stage is a sleeping dog!

I'll start off with a nice sunny splash of African Marigolds ...

    Salvia splendens ...

    Fantastic Cineraria cruentus ...

Heavenly scented Matthiola incana (Stock) ...

A lovely arch (at the back) covered with Pyrostegia ignea (Orange Trumpet Vine) but with unfortunately few blooms on it ...

A Sparmannia africana (African Hemp) just finished blooming also ...

    A magnificent Ficus elasticus ...

And last, but not least, one of my favourites, and what a beauty it was (shame the sun was where it was!) ... Brugmansia aurea in all it's glory with hundreds of blooms ...

Well, this has taken two hours to view photos, choose, upload and transfer across, so I hope those of you who look ENJOY!

Yes, Pal my friend, it can get frosty in the morning ... didn't this winter though! And wet, you wouldn't want to know.

Twenty minutes from us 70 homes including all personal belongings and animals disappeared in the floods in October past. I posted some pics further up.

We're grilling out at the moment but we also have a log fire lit and are wearing jeans / sweatshirts. [IMG]

But, for the most part it's lovely and I just want to share it with my friends. [IMG] [IMG]

Lovely pictures - not sure what I am going to do if my Brugmansias grow that big though!

Love the simplicity of the Marigolds.

Like that sparmannia, has a strange look about it.
Think the marigolds may be calendular, pot marigold.
If only we could get brugs to flower outside this time of the year. [IMG] :D

roders, dearest, you like me love Brugs ... I could walk under every one by at least a foot this tree was so tall! Heaven! OUrs flower basically all year long depending on their location.

I know you were, Pal, I was giving you stick ...

Waco, the marigolds literally were glowing in the sunshine, wish I could take better pics ... could be, pete, but they came up to my knee and more ????

Thanks my lovely Scottish Thistle, glad you enjoy the jaunts also! [IMG]

Thank you to all of you. As I've said before, I just like to share my sunshine! [IMG] [IMG]
