Yesterday took us to Huelva, Spain, on a fruitless shopping expedition ... we had to order the items and go back next Saturday to collect our goodies. Fortunately it's only one hour 45 minutes.

Spain is very boring compared to Portugal (biased or what?), it's browner, flatter and hotter (by five degrees). However, I managed to take a few photos, all from a moving vehicle barring the last three floral pics.

Crossing the bridge across the Rio Guardiana which splits Portugal from Spain. It was obviously the same bridge architect who designed this and the one in Portim£o. This has been enhanced so I could remove the road dirt and bird poo off the windscreen ...

    The Rio Guardiana ...

    A Spanish village ...

The road medians on the Spanish part (the motorway runs from Lagos, Western Algarve, to Seville, Spain) is lined with Oleanders and in the heat (windows open, no a/c)it was quite headily scented ...

As far as the eye could see were Sunflower fields ... they are all drying now but must a been a sight a month or two ago ...

    ... to be continued ...

    Spain continued ...

On entering Huelva, there was this lovely park (sorry about the blur) ...

And I captured this imposing church going around a corner at an intersection ...

We parked next to these Oleanders by the beach where we ate lunch ...

And these magnificent specimens (don't know where the pastel smears came from) ...

And just at the beach edge we encountered this striking Lantana (which is for Waco) ...

The Spanish speak fast, furious, gutterally and loud and don't understand English so I had to speak in Portuguese as it's closer to their lingo. Was I ever glad to get home to civility! [IMG]

Hope you enjoyed this week's detour.

Nice pics Sis and the Oleanders are lovely when they are all blooming. Last time we drove that way was in early June 2003 and we were lucky to see the sunflowers in bloom - all those little faces looking up at the sun, it was beautiful.

Evening, diminutive one. If you don't bring cuttings back this next time ... don't worry .. they will be winging their way to you if you want them. [IMG] [IMG]

It having been necessary for us to go back to Spain yesterday, we stopped at Monte Gordo (Portugal) for lunch and then went for a walk along the beach people watching. So, here is a first for me, photos with people in them!

    Children making sandcastles ...

Two enthusastic groups taking pedalos out ...

... we don't know what happened but they were back within ten minutes!

    Soaking up the sunshine ...

    Something I fancy ... a jet ski ...

And a nice little grouping to end with ...

Would love some of that blue sky and that extra 5 degrees of heat would be very welcome here.

Thank you Kathy3, pip and Waco.

Unfortunately, Waco, I have found that where there are people there is plastic and concrete ... hence my normal country photos, away from it all. Yes, the sea was lovely on Saturday ... the sea is lovely any day! [IMG]
