Also it is precision sewing. You only need a few squares to be out a millimeter or so and it adds up to a crooked quilted top.

@Sian in Belgium I've known people to use flat bedsheets for the back of a duvet cover as it is an easy means to get wide fabric. I have suppliers who sell all different 108 to 120" wide but unfortunately it is useless for you as shipping would be outrageous. I would have loved to help.

      Thank you all!
It has been a project in mind since I started to make the denim patchwork duvet cover. I still kick myself a little that I did throw away a few of hubby’s colourful shirts in the beginning, when they went to holes, before I had the idea. I’d kept the buttons (as you do :th scifD36:) but not those bits of fabric that hadn’t worn out.

I had a mind to do a second one eventually, but with lockdown, the days of shirt-wearing in this house seem to have gone!

@CanadianLori - we are thinking of getting a couple of flat sheets from Ikea for this very reason. I can buy it in the UK, mail order, but the delivery rates to Belgium are huge. Maybe I will arrange for a parcel to arrive when I’m next visiting mum....

I only do a small bit at a time. Once a shirt (or other cotton-ish item) has died, it goes into a pile, then on a rainy day, they get cut up into useable fabric pieces. Another day is marking out squares, another cutting out the squares, another counting how many of each I have (important for the designing). Laying out is the only way I can work it out, choosing from those colours I have enough squares... the columns are picked up in order, sewn in order, and then the columns added together....

In many ways, it’s like gardening. You walk into a garden, but know you can’t create it overnight. You build it up slowly, slowly....!

Hi Sian. I have bought king-sized sheets from Amazon.co.uk but only use supplier who says Fulfilled by Amazon. Very reasonable post. I pay what is listed, no more for Europe.

Takes me back decades to when I hand made a full sized patchwork quilt with small hexagons. I was housebound and often bedbound at the time and it was a grand support work. Then I made one for a friend. Not used it for years. Will try to photo it at some stage.

I’m sure I’m not the only one to be making masks?

Initially I was making the basic fold masks, as on the right-hand side in the photo (you start off with a 20cm square, with 3 pieces of fabric), but wondered about the shaped masks. Are they more comfortable to wear? So I’ve now made some shaped masks too - with elastic, or tie versions.

...but we all need some light relief. In my case, a mother-and-child portrait ;)
Cross-stitching finished - now time for the back-stitch and french knots!

Oh I never noticed a crafter's corner thread before!

I've only just found the time to start using my sewing machine I got a few years ago. Also been teaching myself to knit (which has been amusing!).

Taking the doggies on holidays to St Ives for a week later in the year and I decided to make a bandana and a little bag holder because I found a cute bone material. Was nice to do this inside when it was too windy to garden yesterday.

I'm planning on making a treat bag too.

I'm not great at sewing but I guess the more I practice the better I will get

Very nice @Snorky85 ! Now you just need a pooh bag bag. One that you can put your belt through and that carries the bags for picking up the doo doo :)

Ah @CanadianLori that is what is in Beas back pack...poo bags! she can carry them herself!
Had a scrap of material so made myself a pin cushion in the same theme.

I couldn't quite manage an invisible seem on it...the stuffing was making it very difficult and I didn't leave a decent enough seam allowance to be able to do it properly. I also think my needle was too big.

Ah thank you both! I've loved making the stuff the last couple of days. I've got some other projects on the go too, but I'm not sure whether they're classed as "crafting", maybe just "projects". My grandma has given me all of my great grandads tools that she had forgotten about - they are all rusty, so I need to clean them up. I've also got a set of wooden drawers that were full of bits and bobs. It was painted green and had loads of muck all over it so I've just stripped off all the green paint this afternoon. Hopefully will get to finish it tomorrow.
