Well I've sanded them down and decided to redo the stripper and wire wool but unfortunately there are some stains on it which will just not come out. I'm guesisng theyre oil marks which is a shame as i wont be aboe to get rid of them.
So i think next step is to clean off with meths, let it dry and then spray primer on and then paint them.

id got a sage green paint but realised it is gloss. I might nip over to homebase and see if there is a dark navy blue I can paint them instead. Everything seems to be painted white these days, so going to do something a little different.

They are lovely pieces to work on @Snorky85 and you are doing a first-class job so far. I used to refinish antique furniture. I only have one piece here, a child's wooden toy box We use as a candle storage box (lots of BIG candles) which I stained in sandwash blue.

Crikey...the box has been the least of my problems today. I decided to do my grandmas old chair and i think there must have been 15 layers of gloss at least!!!!

4th time stripping taking place now. I've used my electric sander three times so far...and the wire wool. Only just got signs of wood!! Madness!

Needless to say I'm worn out and filthy!

@Victoria interesting to know about your furniture restoration. Have you done a veneered top before?

i bought a desk/dressing table at a charity shop the other week and it is a state but not done veneer yet.

          84B9AD5F-4388-4D95-9FB3-7049BADAD672.jpeg

I don't want to change the colour, just restore it so its not scratched.

No Snorky I have not. I preferred to work with solid oak. Is the desk veneered all over or just the top? If just the top, I would remove the veneer and refinish. It is a cute useful desk. I shall be interested to see what you do. I used to use liquid finish remover, HG does a good range. It makes life easier.

I've used a liquid paint (more like a gel) remover in the past and that works well on many layers of paint. Perhaps that would be easier on the chair. It has quite a strong smell to it so best used outside.

I'll have to look up HG as I've not heard of that before.

This is the remover I used...Colron...

I am really proud of my granddaughter Chloee. She's at Uni doing a Photography degree with Hons. IMO she would show many a man up with her woodworking skills etc.

She has just completed a makeover on the garden shed and has turned it into her studio. Her photography is really good, and many of her photos have appeared in the uni's paper. Her latest venture is working with resin. Some of her products can be seen on her site.

This is where I am in doubt. Would it be permissable to put a link to her site on here?

Very nice @Snorky85 . I've done furniture using stipper and also a sander. Lots of work but well worth it.

I forgot to post pics if the clothes I made for grandd IMG_20200824_160308.jpg IMG_20200824_160347.jpg IMG_20200824_160438.jpg IMG_20200824_162712.jpg aughter this past couple of weeks. Didn't get a lot of time so only these tops and a pair of pants plus some denim capris with side hem detailing. The detail doesn't show up on pics so didn't bother posting a pic of those. We'll be starting on fall clothing soon.

Lovely work Lori. I haven't made any clothes for years, correction decades. I think the last things I made were bridesmaid dresses.

The patterns were simple and all of the tops have a "swing" to them. She feels feminine in them :)

Her self esteem needs a boost so I thought these would help. We're hoping that by the end of the month she'll be able to walk for 10 minutes :fingers crossed:

They're lovely Lori, you're so good! Glad to hear things are moving in the right direction for her

About the tops etc..what type of material are they made from? I attempted to copy a top of my own but I'm useless when it comes to material selection.
