Ah thank you - I am actually gobsmacked that I managed to draw it AND really enjoy doing it. I had a go at painting a different snow scene this afternoon instead of painting the same scene. It was the thick snow at Armley Park - my bro went for a walk and sent me the pics. My painting wasn't great - it's very hard to do snow watercolour!

I didn't find snow easy either as you have to get the shadows correct ...

Wow they're amazing @Victoria!!! Wish I was that skilled but I guess it takes time.

This was my useless attempt... I accidentally splodged black onto the snow so had to draw the people in the wrong place and I've got the dimensions wrong etc...let alone my inability to paint lol

Snorky, if you don't look at the original you can't see your perspective is not the same. Actually I prefer your hilliness and think yours has more depth.

These were my first paintings and I think I improved in later years. I only use Acrylic, so easy to work with and so easy to correct mistakes. I also prefer stretch canvas as it has flexability. I haven't painted for several years due to health issues but may start up again this year.

T'pther Half had me change my style from scapes. I tried using a J-Cloth for some and I do like Faces of Eve which also uses metallic paint ...

            Eve lightened.jpg

... and Poppies which is textured, in reality looks like leather ...

@Snorky85 that looks great, with snow it's the shadows and you've done really well.
              @Victoria that's amazing.

Just been looking at your website @Victoria Some
Lovely paintings-you've got the skills! I particularly like the Grand Canyon and Sol Nascente. I didn't even think about using acrylic. I might give it a go and see if I like it!

I've not done any painting or drawing since last week. This afternoon, as the weather is so rubbish, I decided to make a case to put special linens etc that my grandma has given me. Some really beautiful bits of embroidery etc. I've kept a couple of bits out as they are so beautiful but the rest I'll have to put away but I didn't want to just shove it back in the plastic bags they came in.

So again I've used scrap blackout curtain material from an old pair of curtains and used half a fat quarter of nice material and made this:

@Snorky85 have you heard of Bob Ross? Sadly he died many years ago but I just think he is so brilliant!!
His programmes often crop up on tv but you can find him on YouTube.... He has a lovely relaxed hippy ( ish) manner when talking you through his truly inspiring tutorials.....with his ' happy little tree's

Just listening to makes you want to have a go yourself!!

@Upsydaisy ha ha yes I have heard of Bob Ross. I've seen quite a few of his programmes. Mrs Shiney told me about him as did my lil bro. He is quite amusing. I think he uses a "wet on wet" technique where he does like a gesso wash over the canvas first.

I'm not sure @Sheal It my have been my gt auntie Betty. I will ask her. It's so pretty-I love the butterflies.

Just checked...no, my grandma bought that one. Got some lovely flowery embroidered table cloths that my grandma has done. Also got a lovely embroidered one from my aunty Betty for the Queens coronation. It's so pretty-a crown in the middle and a trefoil, a thistle, a daffodil and a rose

It's Bedfordshire lace Snorky. Hang on to it, if it isn't valuable already it will be. :)

I had a great aunt Betty that produced some beautiful, fine crochet work in silk. She tried to teach me to crochet but it's something I've never managed to get the hang of. I can sew, knit and make bobbin lace, but crochet has always eluded me.

I really like your artwork @Snorky85 :) And @Victoria I too looked at your website. Very nice!

Some might call my tastes eclectic but to be honest, I'm just really fickle! These are some pieces I bought from local artists.
