That's nice @Valley Gardener, Is it for someone in particular ?
My late partner used to enjoy doing those squares and she made them into chairbacks, I still have them on some chairs.

I made this get well card for a friend who has recently had a hip replacement operation.
The colours haven't come out very well in the photo.
        The words say 'Best Wishes'

I gave the inside a pattern and decorated it with some rubber stamps.
I blocked the 'message' out, but you wouldn't have understood it anyway because it's in Welsh.

Thankyou @SherwoodArrow I really enjoyed doing it, I feel I want to get back to some painting soon.
The square Idea was to use up some of my Yarn stash. Its seems to have gone down a fraction.:)

I must admit I was unable to make a perfect Granny square but watched a lot of You Tube tutorials which were very helpful in some cases. So after I had done about 12 I wondered what to do with them. The Jacket took roughly 70 ish But I enjoyed making every single one. I might wear it in the winter to brighten up a dull day:spinning:

Funnily enough @Valley Gardener we've just decided on a Granny's square workshop for one of our whole day activities next year at Patch etc club tho we'll do a bag as beginners will not want to be doing 70+squares. There's a simple version with 12 of the same squares back and front or, for the more advanced, this version witha few more stitches.

I like the bag @Obelix-Vendée. I can sew, knit and make lace (as well as tile a kitchen wall :heehee:) but I've never got the knack of crochet, strange!

Me neither @Sheal. It just doesn't appeal.

I can knit but like to do more interesting stitches than knit and purl and that's really hard to do when watching TV and being helped by a cat and/or dog so I've abandoned knitting. I can't imagine spending an hour or a day to produce one cm of lace so have never tried.

I can tile small areas and do mosaic too but tiling larger areas is a dark art. Respect.

Have you tried Aran or chunky, it knits up very quickly. :) Mind you interference from your cat and dog are not going to help. The tv? That's easy, I got rid of mine 14 years ago.

I've not tried mosaic, it probably needs a lot of patience.

I was unlucky enough to be brought up in a family of males, plastering comes naturally, cooking doesn't.

@Sheal I was brought up on very boring, very predictable meals so now I like nothing better than cooking at least one new recipe a week and not being too repetitive for the other days.

I taught myself DIY in my 20s when still flat-sharing and impecunious but I don't think I'd tackle plastering except minor repairs when prepping for decorating.

I like the idea of knitting interesting stitches and patterns to make good jumpers but, the mo, can't concentrate enough not to make mistakes and drop stitches. 2 cats, 2 dogs and I still like some TV but mostly listen rather than watching while I do embroidery or other hand-sewing.

There's no point in creating if there's no concentration. In recent years I've been cross stitching and started a new piece a year ago, I haven't touched it since as my mind isn't on it. I will get back to it eventually but don't have the inclination to pick it up just yet.

I really love that Bag idea, very nice with the contrast handles. You will have to let us see some of the Workshop ones. Will it be taught from scratch or will they be beginners?

I've literally just noticed your robot whilst on the tomato thread, and commented on it there. I used to knit a lot of little dolls/figures. It's fun but fiddly compared to a big, daft jumper. (Mods! Why isn't there a knitting emoticon?)
