          Thankyou so much for the lovely comments I love doing them.
          They are usually "girls" as I like to use a fine cotton yarn for the dresses.

              Ha! @Bluejayway I couldn't sew or sow till I tried and persevered to get the results I wanted tho neither is foolproof of course. New patterns, new seed types, seasonal weather differences all affect how things go.

              These days I can't sit in front of the TV and do nowt so I've been teaching myself embroidery and have just started on crochet. Knitting is a step beyond tho.

              I really like your animal figures @Valley Gardener but what do you do with them all?

                @Obelix-Vendée
                The trouble is I've knitted so many jumpers,shawls etc I was at a loss for something to do,like you,I need my hands to be occupied in my spare time. I was fascinated by "Little Cotton Rabbit" patterns,they all look so neatly made,so I invested in a couple of patterns,and use them for the basic shapes,then adapt the heads and ears etc.
                I think I will give them to a lady in my knitting group as she does endless fundraising for McMillan.
                Well done on learning crochet,so far I can only do squares!!

                  Let's not get ahead of ourselves @Valley Gardener.

                  I'm on my first square after discovering I was too ambitious with my choice of thread - too fine - and having to start again with double knit while I learn the stitches. I did do a doggy blanket last winter but that was fat wool and a fat hook and a simple stitch.

                  Great idea to give them to your fund-raising friend.

                    Believe me, I’ve tried @Obelix-Vendée , I’m just all fingers and thumbs these days. Was slightly better at knitting and crochet when I was younger. Sewing has never been a strong point though. Totally useless! When I was at school in the 60s we had to make a nightie. Mine was like a bell tent and too tight under the arms. Both my Nanas were gifted needlewomen and my Mother could just about manage some of it too but not me :gaah:

                      Oh well @Bluejayway - primary school in the 60s and hand sew a sleeveless top. Why? My mum sewed or knitted our clothes on machines! Grammar school - sew a long sleeved blouse on a treddle machine? Why? Mum's machine was electric.

                      I did learn to sew in my teens because I'm not shop shaped and mu budget was half gone on just one pair of Levi seadogs.

                        Love the dolls and animals Valley Gardener, :) I wouldn't have the patience for those. It's decades since I last knitted, in fact I gave all my needles to a charity shop just a couple of weeks ago.

                        I also used to sew a lot and make dresses for my daughters when they were young - amongst other things. Now I prefer to cross stitch but haven't touched that for a year, so will get back to it this winter.

                            This is my latest make, it's a head band/ear warmer hat. It's my first attempt at a crochet cable, I'm quite impressed. I watched a YouTube pattern video so it was easy to follow. PXL_20241016_202526978.jpg
