Fortunately we're not else MrH would have spent the family fortune on tools by now (it's a very small family fortune).

On the positive side, we're just down the road (then up the hill, then along a bit, then a bit more...) from Westonbirt where we'll be going to the tree festival at the end of the month. http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/infd-8fpnpt

crochet can be used in a multitude of combination and colours. Here a few examples taken from a crochet site:

I don't think crocheted/knitted stuff is just for infants. My missus has a couple of tops that her granny made. She's had them for years and saves them for best because she really likes them. She also has a crocheted full length dress that she bought on holiday one year. She loves that too, even though she doesn't quite fit into it any more:)

                  Wow Simbad,
they are all so beautiful. I know that cross stitch requires endless patience and discipline to keep the work consistent. You have all of that,
                  Jenny

They are beautiful Simbad. Do you work from patterns or are they your own design? :dbgrtmb: I've let all my hobbies lapse over the last few years, of which cross stitch was one. I also tend to give all mine away, so I have nothing to show you. The only item I have kept at the moment is a tapestry. Perhaps I should think about starting again. :)

Thankyou Sheal  they're all from patterns do have a disc for the computer to design my own from photographs etc but haven't got get the nack of it yet
Oooo would love to see a picture of your tapestry I'd love to have a go at one, I bought a book quite a while ago with lots of William Morris designs in but the most I've done from it is a cross stitch cushion another thats waiting to be made up, picture later.

Simbad, I'm surprised you've not had a go at tapestry, obviously they make up quicker than cross stitch being in half stitch and the yarns are thicker of course.

I tried designing my own patterns years ago on computer with the aid of a disc, but got frustrated with it so gave up. I have another tapestry stored in my loft that took me three years to complete on and off, but I won't be climbing up there for that. I'll try and get a picture of my other one but it's framed and behind glass so I don't know how well it will come out.

My hobbies get pushed aside for a few years when I get bored with them and then I retrieve them again. I can sew and knit and also make bobbin lace but have never managed to get my head round crochet. I must have a mental block, I just don't seem to be able to grasp how to work it.
