Thank you Sheal. Interesting, that yellow circle is the same size as a tea cosy lid top area so, I could knit the body part and attach the yellow bit to the body and leave the frill "free".
Suppose it would work for a Christmas Poinsettia one too....:ideaIPB:

It's great how ideas snowball! :) Is it all knitted? The middle looks crocheted to me.

The whole thing is crocheted Sheal and uses a single chain stitch or a single crotchet stitch throughout. I'm on a Crochet club website and they send me little tutorial videos, some of them are left handed which is useful as I'm left handed. This one was a Belgian lady who was a bit scatty and her accent was strong so it meant watching it a few times just to understand what she was saying,

Hi Dips, I'm not certain what this German lady was doing - I'm not that experienced enough to know the difference but I copied her video stitch. I know you insert the hook and due the sc work that side before pulling the hook back through to the side nearest to you,

Its just wording which is the difference between uk and american

So american sc is insert the hook yarn over draw through yarn over and draw through both loops.

But in uk terms that is a double crochet

It's hard enough trying to follow a pattern without there being different techniques involved Dips. Trust the Yanks to wanna be different,
